Neways (http://neways.com/en/home.aspx) has created a special “Power of People” fund for donations from the company’s distributors, staff, and other interested people to benefit those affected by Japan’s recent earthquake and tsunami. To initiate this ambitious aid program for the company’s largest market, Neways announced on Monday a $50,000 donation and a personal match of an additional $50,000 by Golden Gate Capital (http://www.goldengatecap.com). Additionally Neways will provide product donations to the affected areas, continue to monitor the fund-raising, and will work with the appropriate public-sector agencies to ensure donations are distributed where they are most needed.
Scott St. Clair, Neways CEO, released a statement saying, “Neways Japan and the entire Neways family are deeply saddened by the recent earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan, and our thoughts and prayers are constantly with those affected by this tragedy. At the same time, we are also amazed at the resilience and courage of the Japanese people, including our Neways distributors and Healthy Home members.”
As part of the “Power of People” effort, Neways’ goal is to raise 1.5 million dollars, which will be distributed to public-sector agencies for use in the hardest-hit areas. The distribution of these funds will be determined by a special committee of Neways distributors and employees, reflecting the diverse base of expected support for the fund.
