Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality sign Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation
Karachi, June 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality have signed a mutual cooperation agreement aiming at enhancing technical and vocational training in both cities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this effect was signed in Istanbul during a meeting between KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed and Deputy Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ahmed Salamat in which delegation from Pakistan and high officials of IMM were also present.
Under the agreement IMM will provide in Istanbul the services to improve Trainers Staff/ Training of Trainers by the Master Trainers. The fields and content of the training will be negotiated and agreed by and between the Parties. The training of the trainers to be sent by Karachi Metropolitan Municipality shall be provided free of charge by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality/ISMEK.
Both cities shall invite each other to workshops, symposiums, fairs and handcrafts exhibitions to be organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality-ISMEK and Karachi Metropolitan Municipality training institutions.
The host cities of these activities (Istanbul-Karachi) shall cover the transport costs of the representatives that they invite to. A symposium on Cooperation between Asian Countries of Organization of Islamic Conference on Vocational Training and Education shall be organized together. SESIRC if Parties wishes to organize such a symposium.
The Memorandum of Understanding shall come into effect upon its date of signing and shall remain in effect for three years and shall be automatically renewed unless one or both of the parties communicate their intent of resignation.
Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed on this occasion said that about 70 Vocational Training Centres presently exist in Karachi where the youths needs to be imparted with Training on modern lines and this requirement would be fulfilled through mutual cooperation agreement with Istanbul Municipality. He said that we have agreed to enhance cooperation between Karachi and Istanbul in various fields. Both the Metropolitan Corporations could play important role in this regard.
Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said that occasional visits of delegations would be exchanged on Metropolitan Corporation level between the two cities to promote technical and vocational cooperation. He said that we need to enhance the trade and commercial activities between Pakistan and Turkey so that the Pakistani handicrafts, skills and products could get access to Europe via brother Islamic country Turkey.
Administrator Karachi said this has been an important progress on the government level by the two countries and we have to prove us trustable for each other.
Deputy Mayor IMM Ahmed Salamat said full cooperation will be provided to improve vocational and technical training in 70 vocational training centers of Karachi.
