President appreciates release of Pakistani sailors from captivity of Somali pirates
Islamabad, August 01, 2012 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari has welcomed the release of Pakistani sailors from the captivity of Somali pirates and in a telephone call especially thanked Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan for his personal efforts in securing the release.
The President appreciated and thanked the Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and all the individuals and organizations for efforts to secure the release of Pakistani sailors.
The President said that Pakistani sailors have been released after enduring a heavy ordeal and everyone in the country is happy over it.
He said that it was a good omen that the captured Pakistanis have been released and would be celebrating Eid and the forthcoming Independence Day with their families.
The President reiterated the need for joint effort so that such abductions did not take place in future.
It may be mentioned that the nationals of other countries including India, Bangladesh, Iran and others are also reported to be in the captivity of Somali pirates along with the Pakistanis. However only Pakistanis have been released thus far who would be arriving in Pakistan tomorrow.
The President especially thanked Governor Sindh for his personal efforts in securing the release.
