Islamabad, December 05, 2016 (PPI-OT): A high level Italian delegation led by H.E Ivan Scalfarotto, Italian Minister for economic development called on Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources , Mr.Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad today. Matters related to energy issues were discussed in the meeting.

The delegates appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s vision. Both the leaders pledged to further enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries and enhance cooperation in the field of energy.

30 Km Gas pipeline between Jacobabad and Shikarpur will soon be completed to facilitate Quetta and rest: Jam Kamal Khan

Islamabad, September 29, 2016 (PPI-OT): “30 km Gas pipeline between Jacobabad and Shikarpur will soon be completed to facilitate Quetta and rest”, Jam Kamal Khan. Gas supply to Quetta and connected districts will Inshallah increase after this pipeline is completed, the Minister for state said. During his visit to Quetta SSGC office he was briefed on overall matters and challenges of UFG and new Pipeline. The Minister also directed the concerned officials of SSGC to expedite the work on this pipeline so that this winter it benefits people.

He further said that the distribution of gas has been extended in many parts of Balochistan. Bypass system of Kalaat to Mastung, Awaraan LPG plant, Gwadar/hub/Quetta and rest augmentations and enhancements works in Qilla Abdullah and Zargoon lines have been done during this setup. This improvement and efforts will go a long way in reducing the sense of deprivation prevailing among the masses of Balochistan. Along this a lot of gas exploration is under way to explore new ventures and potential. The Minister also paid visit of Gwadar/Awaran/Lasbela 2D survey work.

LNG import a game-changer for industry, employment: Amjad Latif

Islamabad, August 28, 2016 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Amjad Latif has said LNG import project had proved a game-changer, it has resulted in the revival of local industry and provision of employment opportunities that would take its sales to record 3.2 BCFD by the end of next year. Addressing the annual dinner of the Officer Association of the SNGPL, the managing director said the company was currently selling1.8 BCFD. The company has saved Rs4.4 billions by reducing the unaccounted for gas (UFG) to single digit from 11% to 9%, he added.

He said that the financial health of the company had also strengthened as company’s share price has doubled in the stock market. He informed the gathering that the task of laying 1,000 kilometres pipeline from Sawan to Lahore would be completed within stipulated time. Transmission, distribution, construction and sales departments had shown better performance and attributed company’s success to the hard work of the employees.

He said that the SNGPL had never laid a pipeline more than the stretch of 200 kilometres and lauded the performance of the employees for helping the company achieve new targets. He said that company’s future was bright and maximum facilities would be extended to the employees for their welfare.

Amjad Latif said the company was going through a crucial stage when he had assumed the office but he had targeted to elevate the company to top 10 entities of the country. “We are very close to the target,” he said with satisfaction. He said no one could impede company’s progress if its transmission, distribution, construction and sales departments were performing well.

Amjad Latif said the company was adopting a new marketing vision of the federal government and the Federal Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi that would help them to fulfil the new requirements of the market. The managing director informed that the company was supplying uninterrupted gas to the fertilizer industry, power houses, commercial and domestic consumers as per their demand.

Amjad Latif said the number of new applicants including those from housing societies was increasing but hoped that they would bridge the demand-supply gap by end of next year. The managing director said he was alive to the issues confronting the employees of the company and was also aware of its resources. The employees’ demands were genuine which could not be turned down, he added.

In his welcome address, Azam Khan, the president of the Association appreciated the efforts of the company’s management and put forth employees’ demands including house building loan, car loan for officers of grade 1-6, and increasing the annual leaves from 60 to 90.

Discovery of Natural Gas in Badin South Block, Sindh

Islamabad, June 29, 2016 (PPI-OT): Petroleum Exploration (Private) Limited (PEL), a private sector Pakistani Company discovered significant quantities of gas and condensate in its Badin IV South Block Concession located in District Badin, Sindh Province. PEL is the operator of the Block. The well Ayesha North-1 was spud on March 25, 2016 with an objective to test the Upper Sands of the Lower Goru formation upto a depth of 2800 meters or 50 m inside Basal Sand whichever is shallower.

The well reached to a total depth of 2820 meters on May 10, 2016. Based on wireline logs and testing the well flowed 8.1 MMCFD of good quality natural gas at Choke 48/64 with 49 BPD of condensate from “A” Sand unit of Upper Sands. The wellhead pressure was recorded as 648 psi. The discovery augurs well for the energy starved nation and will act as stimulant for further exploration in the region.

Minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Resources efforts enabled payment to affected landowners of Quetta-Zarghoon Gas Pipeline

Islamabad, June 28, 2016 (PPI-OT): Minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Jam Kamal Khan’s special efforts enabled payment to the affected landowners of the Quetta-Zarghoon Gas Pipeline.

Minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Jam Kamal Khan after making special efforts has moved SSGC regarding much delayed issue of giving compensation money to Revenue authorities of Quetta regarding Quetta-Zarghoon Pipeline for onward disbursement to the affected landowners.

The cheque amounting to Rs 209,775,000 has been issued to Deputy Commissioner of Quetta on account of payment towards the land acquisition in Quetta-Zarghoon Gas Pipeline project for onward disbursement to the affected landowners.

The 64 kilometer-long pipeline network has been laid at a cost of Rs1.600 billion to add 25 mmcfd (millions cubic feet per day) of gas to the company and #39;s system for onward transmission to Quetta.

Initially, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) received the demand of Rs 523.496 million from DC Quetta against the Right of Way (ROW), which was very high.

On the directions of Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources, SSGCL made hectic efforts and held a series of negotiations with the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and Revenue officials besides other stakeholders. Resultantly, SSGC persuaded the Revenue authorities to reduce the initial demand to the new amount of Rs. 209.775 Millions.

Islamabad, June 15, 2016 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met his Tajik counterpart Mr. Usmanoli Uzmonzada here in Islamabad.
