In addition, UK consultants from the services industry will also be attending the exhibition.

The Expo Pakistan, which is the largest showcase of Pakistan’s export merchandise and services, has been attracting large number of foreign buyers each year. In 2010, export orders worth US$ 80 million were placed during the exhibition.

This year, a conference on “Foreign Investment Opportunities and Exports from Pakistan” will be held during the 6th Expo Pakistan

Saira Najeeb Ahmed, Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission in London, said:

“Pakistan and UK relations are time tested and continuously evolving on all tiers and areas. The major areas of our cooperation in people to people relations are education, health, trade, investment, and art and cultural exchanges.

This key message is for both counties to make efforts and commit resources to contribute to the target of increasing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United Kingdom to £2.5/- billion by 2015.”

Director for Trade and Investment Pakistan and British Deputy High Commissioner, Francis Campbell said:

“Due to the UK’s historical and cultural links and the easy use of English as the business language, Pakistan presents numerous and significant opportunities for investments aiming both at using Pakistan as an export base and at tapping into an emerging market with a rapidly growing middle class.

On the other hand, UK companies have the latest knowledge and technology in the areas of agriculture, healthcare and energy which are much needed in Pakistan to develop the country’s industrial base.

Events like the Expo Pakistan facilitate this exchange of people, knowledge and ideas and are crucial in achieving our objective of increasing bilateral trade between the UK and Pakistan.”

During their visit to Karachi the delegation attended a networking reception hosted by UK Trade and Investment Department at the British Deputy High Commission in Karachi to meet with government functionaries, businessmen and other stakeholders.
