Islamabad, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has approved the following office timings during the Holy Month of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak:-

Federal government Offices working on 05 days a week basis

a) Monday to Thursday from 08:00 a.m to 02:00 p.m

b) Friday from 08:00 a.m to 01:00 p.m

Federal government Offices working on 06 days a week basis

a) Monday to Thursday from 08:00 a.m to 01:00 p.m

b) Friday from 08:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m

Decision to write letter to Swiss Courts will be taken by the Prime Minister: Watoo

Islamabad, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Watoo has said that decision whether to write letter to Swiss Courts under Supreme Court’s direction will be taken by the Prime Minister and his cabinet before 25th of July.

He urged that all the institutions should stand by the democracy and the present government will complete its constitutional term. He said this while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Saturday afternoon.

Wattoo made it clear that the general elections will be held on their on time. He observed that dictators do not ask any one before stepping in therefore the situation of uncertainty should not be created in the country.

He emphasized that the present government of Pakistan Peoples Party and it allies are struggling for the continuation of democratic system in the country rather than wielding maximum powers for themselves. Wattoo said that PPP government has passed 18th, 19th and 20th amendments with the consensus in the house and legislation in the house is being done with the consensus of all stake holders.

He said that we believe in the politics of reconciliation and we wish to move forward taking the opposition in confidence. He observed that PPP deserves all credit for the appointment of a neutral Chief Election Commissioner and said that it will prove to be a milestone towards holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

He urged the opposition parties to come up with positive inputs and suggestions for the establishment of a transparent and impartial accountability system. He maintained that we Pakistan Peoples Party respect the higher judiciary and we accepted the court decision against former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Reza Gilani despite reservations.

Air University Holds Convocation Ceremony

Islamabad, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): The third convocation ceremony of the Air University was held at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad on Saturday. Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who is also Chairman Board of Governors of the Air University was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Bachelors and Masters degrees of various educational disciplines in engineering and administration programs were conferred upon 595 students.

The Chief Guest awarded 26 Gold and 19 silver medals to the position holders. Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Guest said, “The extension of Air University’s programmes from the disciplines of engineering to administrative sciences, basic and applied sciences as well as social sciences is a clear manifestation of its keenness to serve the nation through contributions in diverse fields of education. With its focus on discipline and ethics, Air University is providing an atmosphere that is conducive for learning. I am very happy to note that this congenial environment of the University is promoting quality education and effective citizenship”.

He further said, “Universities are gate ways of authentic information, and its lateral flow to the industry is essential for the benefit of society at large. I am glad to note that Air University is actively involved in this vital pursuit”. Congratulating the graduating students, their parents and the Air University faculty, the chief guest said that it is their hard work that has made this day of rewards possible, and has led the University in making exponential progress and building up a solid reputation as an academic institution.

Earlier, Dr Ijaz Ahmad Malik, Vice Chancellor of the Air University, in his welcome address expressed that the Air University laid emphasis on quality enhancement in education, research and development, and character building of students who actively participated in all the curricular and co-curricular activities. He thanked the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Air Force for their continual supports towards the university and also awarded degrees to the graduating students.

Dr Javaid R. Laghari, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Chancellor Air University, heads of various educational institutions, senior civil and military officers and parents of the graduating students attended the function.

President condoles death of Mahmood Hamdani

Islamabad, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of veteran journalist Mahmood Hamdani, former Resident Editor, Daily The Nation, who passed away this morning after illness.

The President in his condolence message said that Mr. Hamadani would be remembered for long for his services to journalism and for his personal qualities as a fine human being.

The President prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and to give courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.

Prime Minister Condoles With Primer of Russian Federation

Islamabad, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has condoled with Mr. Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russian Federation and expressed his sympathy on the death of more than 170 people due to torrential rains/flash floods in the Krasnodar region of Russia 7-8 July, 2012, and have caused huge loss of property and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister on the behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this natural calamity.
