Guinness World adjudicator impressed with enthusiasm of youth

Lahore, October 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): Guinness World records adjudicator Gareth Deaves was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the youth of Punjab and he was amazed to see a big gathering of youth in National hockey stadium. Gareth said: “It is a very important day for the people of Punjab and Pakistan as a big audience has gathered here to create new records in many event including singing of the national anthem and creation of Pakistan flag by the audience present in the arena. Imran Javed, another representative of Guinness World Records, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly and chief organizer of the Punjab Youth Festival, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Director General, Sports Board Punjab, Usman Anwar and Haroon Ahmed Khan secretary sports.

 

Gareth and his partner was given standing ovation amid rousing applause from the crowd which welcomed their presence in the stadium on a day which will be long remembered in Pakistan history because of GWR team first time in the country on such a unique occasion. Gareth said it was a memorable experience being in Pakistan and he was an amazing feeling to watch the presence of such a big crowd which was estimated around 70,000.

 

He informed that the GWR has set a certain criteria in the creation of news record in different fields and it is the first time that people of Pakistan has taken GWR challenge which speak volume of their hard work and determination.

 

Gareth said GWR team is very impressed to see the enthusiasm of the people of Pakistan and he was glad to see the interest of people to attempt create new records for GWR. Rana Mashood said the presence of a big gathering which is fully determined to create record for singing the national anthem will help in portraying the real image of Pakistan sending a positive massage to the outer world.

 

“We are thrilled with the presence of a mammoth gathering in the stadium and it was Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who gave a new vision to the youth of the Punjab by engaging them in healthy activities in the ongoing Punjab Youth Festival,” he said. “Our aim is to build a prosperous Pakistan and today we are here to tell the outer world that our youth is full of talent and potential to achieve their desired goals,” he said.

Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker and Director General Sports welcome Indian delegation

Lahore, October 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): Punjab Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood and festival organizers accorded warm welcome to the Indian delegation on their visit to the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday to witness the historic Punjab Youth Festival 2012.

 

When the delegation, which is here in Lahore on five-day tour at the invitation of Lahore Press Club, reached the hockey stadium, Chief organizer Youth Festival Rana Mashood, Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, Sports Journalists Association of Lahore (SJAL) President Syed Ali Hashmi, SWAP secretary Amir Raza Khan, treasurer Farrukh Butt, vice president Sohail Ali and the executive body members along with a jam-packed crowd welcome them warmly.

 

The delegation members appreciated the welcome given to them and said they were not only surprised to see such a huge and enthusiastic crowd and historic event but also termed it the remarkable one. They said they were very happy and excited to witness the event which is not less than the best moment of their lives.

 

Chief organizer Rana Mashood on the occasion said: “Punjab Youth Festival is an international activity which has involved the youth in healthy activities and they are ready to break various records to prove that there is no dearth of talent in Punjab and Pakistan and we want to show the world that Pakistan is a safe country for holding all kind of international sporting events.” He said that as many as 40 international teams are participating in the youth festival in which teams of three Indian provinces with their ministers are also taking part.

 

“The participation of more than 40 international teams including Indians is proof of the festival’s success. Around 4.5 million youth is actively participating in the international event which means 4.5 million families are involved in the success of the festival.

 

We also arranged 26,000 jobs for our youth which is actually the asset of our country and I am sure they will bring goof name and fame to the country,” Mashood concluded. Talking to the reporters, Delhi Press Club Secretary Anil Anand Kumar said: “Records are for breaking and we appreciate the efforts of Punjab youth who is eager to break the records and we wish them good luck for their attempt. It is wrong to say that it is an Indian record but records are made for breaking and help creating challenging atmosphere among the sportsman.”

 

“I am here in Lahore for the first time and it is very special for me to be here in the historic city and event. I am surprised to see a huge number of youth involved in the healthy activities and I cordially wish them best of luck for their record breaking event,” he added.

 

Chandigarh Press Club Secretary Khushhaal Laali said that he and his other fellows were enjoying a lot here and feeling that they were not in Pakistan but in India as there was no difference between Indian and Pakistani people and they are almost same. “My heartiest wishes are with the youth who is ready to break various records during the historic event. I surely would like to say that Punjabis are borne for breaking the records,” he said.

Awesome Punjab youth create Guinness Record

Lahore, October 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): The youth of Punjab on Saturday in its first attempt break the mass participation record of singing the national anthem here at the National Hockey Stadium. Adjudicators of Guinness World Records Gareth Daeves and Imran Javed when gave their thumb up to the Punjab youth’s attempt, the whole stadium roared with applause.

 

Scores of stewards of the GWR closely watched and observed around 70,000 participants of the record singing the national anthem of Pakistan while Sahir Lodhi and Naeem Hanif boosted whole of the audience to sing. Now after Punjab has written the country’s names in the Guinness World Record Book, it will move towards individual events of GWR today at Expo Centre and on Monday (October 22) for the largest mosaic and biggest human flag.

 

The participants of Punjab Youth Festival 2012 gave an awesome performance during the opening ceremony to also mark the start of the Provincial Level. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest of the entire ceremony and also declared the event open. Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Adjudicator of the Guinness World Records Gareth Deaves, Imran Javed, Haroon Ahmed Khan was on Saturday impressed to see the enthusiasm of the youth of Punjab in their attempt to break national anthem sung by maximum Addressing the gathering, Mian Shabaz said that he has never seen such a scene in his entire life.

 

“The people on my province despite several odds and load-shedding have shown great strength and are enjoying the evening. “I hope the youngsters of my province will make the Ali Baba and Chalis Chor run away from the country and Pakistan a country of repute,” he maintained. After that the CM a song ‘akalay na jana hamay chor ka…’ to get huge all pause from the audience. During the ceremony the stadium echoed with the voice of around 60,000 people and all were simultaneously singing the national anthem of Pakistan and that mass participation was put for Guinness World Record.

 

Everybody who is anybody in the society was somehow present on the occasion or was part of this festival that started on August 26 from Neighbourhood and Village level and after passing through Union Council, Tehsil, District and Divisional Levels and creating mass participation record has now entered into its most challenging concluding phase. Even a 60-member delegation of journalists of India The vision that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif carried in Punjab’s youth policy was fulfilled by Usman Anwar, director General Sports and Youth Affairs under the able guidance and supervision of Sports Board Punjab Chairman Mian Hamza Shahbaz and Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, who is also the chairman organizing committee of the festival.

 

The stadium was filled up by the marching athletes of nine divisions bearing their division’s name on their kit and the athletes supported by 7000 volunteers to maintain discipline. Beginning the ceremony, a documentary of the festival was shown, that followed with the winners of the previous levels of the festival recited the of Holy Quran and Naat. Torch rally was held afterwards and Rabia Nawaz, Mohammad Asif, Sahib Asra, Adil Haseeb, Frawa Babar, Waqas Akbar, Zeeshan Abid, Mohammad Babar and Mohammad Akram took the torch to the cauldron and Rehan Butt lit it.

 

That followed the folk dance, gymnastic show and march past. After all the activity the biggest event of the day came in which all the people present in the stadium sang the national anthem. Everyone in the stadium had only one voice coming from their mouth and that was of national anthem.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee addresses Passing out Parade of 126 PMA long course

Kakul, October 20, 2012 (PPI-OT):  “During the past few years, we have witnessed rapid changes in the international environment resulting in a wave of internal instability in our country. We have been subjected to a new form of war with dangerous consequence for our liberty and independence.

 

We must prove to the world that we are a resilient nation and cannot be undermined by extremists”. General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) made these assertions while addressing the Passing out Parade of 126 PMA long course.

 

The Chairman highlighted that “we are living in an era of rapid technological advancement and future military leadership will find themselves at a loss if they fail to keep pace with evolving trends”.

 

The CJCSC while reviewing the Parade appreciated the standard of professionalism acquired by the graduating cadets, specially the immaculate turn out and exuberance in drill movements. Chairman while addressing the cadet officers said that “Pakistan is a peace loving country and we want to promote international peace as it is an assurance of our own internal stability.

 

Our brave officers and soldiers have given their best in the line of duty to ensure the defence of motherland. I am confident that this trust has been reposed in able hands and you will become a mark of pride for your nation”.

 

Chairman congratulated the parents of cadets and the Faculty for achieving traditional bench marks of excellence in moulding young men into able and impeccable officers of Pakistan Army.

 

The Sword of Honour for the overall best cadet was awarded to Academy Senior Under Officer Anees, the President Gold Medal was awarded to Battalion Senior Under Officer Jalal, Chief of Army Staff’s Overseas Gold Medal was awarded to Allied Under Officer Osama and Chief of Army Staff Cane was awarded to Course Senior Under Officer Tariq.

 

Earlier on his arrival at PMA Chairman was received by Major General Sadiq Ali, Commandant Pakistan Military Academy. The commissioning parade constituted the 126 PMA Long Course, 24 Technical Graduate Course, 45 Integrated Course, 10th Lady Cadet Course along with a number of allied cadets from friendly countries of Palestine and Sudan.

Rehman Malik calls on Prime Minister

President approves nominations for election tribunal for Punjab bye elections

Islamabad, October 20, 2012 (PPI-OT):  President Asif Ali Zardari today on the advice of the Prime Minister approved nominations for the Election Tribunal to dispose of appeals against the decisions of the Returning Officer rejecting/accepting the nomination papers for bye-elections in constituencies PP-129 Sialkot-IX and PP-133 Narowal-II.

 

Bye-Elections in PP-129 Sialkot-IX and PP-133 Narowal-II are scheduled to be held on 27th November 2012.

 

Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the Election Commission, under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1976, proposed three judges of Peshawar High Court for the Tribunal namely Mr. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh, Mr. Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq and Mr. Justice Abdus Sattar Asghar for disposing appeals in these two constituencies. The proposed names were then routed through the Law Ministry in a summary for the Prime Minister who subsequently advised the President to approve the nominations.

 

Appeals, if any, against acceptance/rejection of nomination papers will be filed by 2nd November 2012 and the appeals are due to be disposed of by the Tribunal by 6th November 2012.
