Karachi Metropolitan Corporation takes action against illegal slaughtering of animals

Karachi, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed directed veterinary department to ensure the availability of healthy meat for citizens and take strict action against people involved in illegal slaughtering of animals so that after curbing sale of harmful meat citizens could be prevented from diseases.

Illegal slaughtering was solely dangerous for human health and it was regarded as big crime in all over the world. KMC in this connection was absolutely aware of its responsibilities and strict actions would be taken against the people involved in illegal slaughtering of animals and its sale so that citizens could be prevented from those enemies of humanity.

He said this while addressing a review meeting held on illegal slaughtering and sale of harmful meat in the city. On this occasion Sr. Director Veterinary Mukhtar Hussain gave a briefing and informed Administrator Karachi about the details of actions taken against illegal slaughtering and its sale in different towns of the city.

He also informed that following the directive of Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed the mobile teams of Veterinary Department took strict actions against illegal slaughtering and its sale and confiscated a huge quantity of illegal meat from various towns including Saddar, Keamari, Jamshed, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Site, Nazimabad, Landhi, Shah Faisal, Gulberg and Korangi Town.

Administrator Karachi said that the people involved in illegal slaughtering should stop and slaughter animals in KMC slaughterhouses otherwise they would be imprisoned and face heavy penalty. He said that the facilities of healthy slaughtering was available in KMC slaughterhouses therefore slaughtering on other locations could not be allowed. Veterinary doctors were also directed to examine the health of animals before slaughtering so that citizens could be provided with fresh and healthy meat.

Pakistan Muslim League-Q assures its support to Government

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Deputy Prime Minister and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, President of PML-Q, met Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf this evening at the PM House and discussed political situation currently prevailing in the country.

The leaders of PML-Q assured the Prime Minister of their unstinted support to the PPP-led coalition government and conveyed their firm commitment to strengthen democracy in the country.

Talking to the PML-Q leaders, the Prime Minister said that consensus among political forces across party divide on the need for continuity of democratic process augured well for the country’s stability.

The Prime Minister said that democratic process was vital as it incorporated interests and aspirations of various stakeholders.

The Prime Minister said that the country was looking forward to general elections and the government would ensure that they were fair, free and transparent as per the Constitutional provisions.

President says assassination of Salman Taseer was not a loss of any political party

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): On the 2nd anniversary of former Governor Punjab Shaheed Salman Taseer, President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Salman Taseer will be long remembered for upholding the cause of minorities and for fighting against the forces of bigotry and obscurantism.

The President said that the assassination of Shaheed Salman Taseer was not just a loss of any political party or of a particular segment of society; it was a loss of the nation. He said that Shaheed Taseer was endowed with rare qualities of head and heart who faced the vicissitudes of life with great composure and courage.

The President said that Late Salman Taseer will be remembered for standing up to religious extremism and bigotry and for standing by the side of those who were persecuted in the name of religion. He was a true fighter in the true tradition of our political peers, he said.

The President also prayed for eternal peace of Shaheed Salman Taseer and all the martyrs who have laid down their lives for noble causes.

Prime Minister telephones Asfandyar Wali Khan

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf telephoned Mr. Asfandyar Wali Khan, President of Awami National party (ANP), today and discussed with him the prevailing political situation in the country.

During the telephone conversation Mr Asfandyar Wali Khan said, “Our goal is to establish sustainable democracy in the country.” Reiterating his support for the present coalition government, Mr. Asfandyar said that any attempt to create hurdles in the democratic process was unacceptable.

Responding to Mr Asfandyar Wali Khan’s remarks, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said that the government considered elections as a national trust and was committed to hold them according to constitution and law, in a fair, free and transparent manner.

Prime Minister calls Mian Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf telephoned Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of PML-N this afternoon and discussed with him the political situation prevailing in the country.

Both leaders agreed that democracy was the way forward and the people of Pakistan would not allow any attempt to derail the democratic process in the country.

Talking to the Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan had lived with the horrors of so-called slogans of revolutions and long marches. He said that the best way to ascertain the people’s wishes was through ballot.

The Prime Minister said that restoration of democracy owed itself to arduous struggle of political forces in the country. He said that the system needed continuity to evolve. He said that it was sign of political maturity that all political forces were on the same page as far as need for continuity of democratic system was concerned.

The Prime Minister said that the government was committed to the holding of fair, free and transparent elections in the country as per law and Constitution. He assured Mian Nawaz Sharif that all necessary steps would be taken to achieve this objective.

New Information Technology projects will be introduced in Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chairman Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan and Member National Assembly Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that new I.T based projects will be introduced in IPO-Pakistan to facilitate and update the status of applications which had been filed for registration of IP Rights.

He stated this while presiding a meeting of IP officials and I.T experts, held at IPO headquarters Islamabad on Friday. The meeting was attended by Executive Director Umer Dad Afridi, Directors Messaq Arif, Inam Muhammad, Muhammad Ismail, Chaudhry Asfand Ali and other officials of IPO.

The Director General IPO, Mr. Sajjad Ahmad elaborated the features of new I.T based projects and said that various initiatives are under process in accordance with the successful modals of developed countries.

Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that efforts were being made to develop IPO-Pakistan on modern lines by adopting latest techniques and following internationally known IP practices. He also said that after introducing I.T based new systems, the applicants will get modern facilities to interact with IP Registries. He said on the occasion, that it is need of time to get maximum benefit from such latest technologies to improve the system.

He said that IPO-Pakistan is utilizing all possible resources to protect IP Rights of the Rights Owners. During the meeting different proposals were shared for the development of IPO-Pakistan, especially with respect to digitization system. Earlier, Mr. Mujtaba Akram, Assistant Director, IPO gave detailed briefing on the I.T systems.

Minister presides meeting of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation

Islamabad, January 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Production, Ch Anwar Ali Cheema along with Gul Muhammad Rind, Secretary Production chaired the 97th meeting of PIDC Board of Directors here Friday.

The Board reviewed the decisions taken in the last Board meeting. CEO, PIDC Mr. Khalid Mehmood Chadda, briefed the meeting about the overall working of the organization. The Board appreciated the work of PIDC in successfully executing multi-sector projects. Moreover, the Board also examined the working of its subsidiary companies especially new projects of Aik Hunar Aik Nagar. The meeting appreciated PIDC’s efforts in promoting multi-sectoral initiatives through its subsidiary companies.

Earlier 18th Board meeting of one of the subsidiary companies of PIDC, Furniture Pakistan was also held. On the occasion, the decisions taken in the last Board meeting were presented for adoption. The Minister strictly directed to avoid ill-practices in executing the affairs of any of PIDC’s subsidiary companies. He also directed to complete all projects on time and instructed that the monitoring committee should regularly submit report before the Board from all subsidiary companies.
