Congress, BJP furthering plan to make India Hindu national state: Gilani

Srinagar, April 06, 2014 (PPI-OT): The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the disclosure of a news portal, Cobrapost, on Babri Masjid show that the both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party have no difference in their policies towards the Muslims and are acting upon the plan of making India a Hindu national state.

Syed Ali Gilani, who is in New Delhi for medical treatment, in a statement issued in Srinagar castigated the Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jamia Masjid for extending support to Congress. “Be it the Shahi Imam, Omar Abdullah or Saifuddin Soz, these people are ‘low-rung soldier’ of Sonia Gandhi and have been used to cover the anti-Muslim face of Congress party,” the veteran leader said.

“On the one hand Shahi Imam has mortgaged his faith with the Congress for petty interests and on the other hand Omar Abdullah is acting as a sycophant for the Congress only to come again into the power in Kashmir,” Syed Ali Gilani said. He maintained that National Conference had always been in search of power and chair and for obtaining this, its leaders had not only supported Congress but at times they had even shaken their hands with BJP.

It is to mention here that Cobrapost has revealed that the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992 was elaborately planned by various extremist wings of the Sangh Parivar. It said that top BJP leaders like L K Advani and the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Singh, as well as the Congress Prime Minister, P V Narasimha Rao, were aware of the planned destruction of the historic mosque.

Meanwhile, the veteran leader strongly denounced the fresh arrest spree unleashed by Indian police and troops ahead of the so-called sham polls in the occupied territory. He said that in the past few days, the police had detained around a dozen Hurriyet activists during crackdown operations in Baramulla, Islamabad and other areas.

He said that the police personnel were conducting house raids to arrest more people while Hurriyet leaders including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Muhammad Ashraf Laiya had been placed under house arrest.

Syed Ali Gilani said that such actions vindicated their stand that holding of farcical elections was nothing more than a military operation to prolong India’s illegal occupation on Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the people to totally boycott the so-called polls, as India exploited their participation in the elections in its favour at the international level.

Sham polls no solution to Kashmir dispute: Professor Butt

Srinagar, April 06, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, has said that sham polls in the territory are not a solution to the Kashmir dispute and should only be seen as a process for running administrative affairs.

Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in an interview in Srinagar said that there would be no solution to the dispute till the aspirations of common Kashmiris were addressed. The APHC leader said that pro-India politicians had always fooled the people in the name of road, water and electricity. He said that whether it was National Conference or Peoples Democratic Party or any other pro-India political party, they had always sucked the blood of Kashmiri people for their benefits.

Professor Butt said that the Hurriyet leaders’ meeting with Pakistani High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, was fruitful and encouraging. “I was very impressed by the speech of Pakistani High Commissioner. He assured Islamabad will take all measures with the new government at New Delhi after parliamentary polls to safeguard the interest of Kashmiri people,” he added.

Maintaining that dialogue was the only way to settle the conflict over Kashmir, Professor Butt said that the APHC was ready to hold talks with any political party in India that was sincere to resolve the dispute.
