Smartphone market in Middle East grows 23percent in Q2, 2014 – Huawei becomes 3rd largest smartphone vendor in Middle East

Islamabad, August 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): According to research statistics published by the International Data Corporation (IDC)’s Quarterly Mobile phone Tracker; Record high shipments of nearly 300 million units have been tracked in the global smartphone industry, in the second quarter of 2014, which equates to a 23.1 percent year-on-year growth and a 2.6 percent growth from the previous quarter.

Triggered by the boom in the global smartphone industry, the markets in developing countries, especially the Middle East are also showing tremendous growth. The primary cause of this rapid growth trend is the proliferation of more affordable smart devices, complemented by easier access to high speed broadband infrastructure in emerging markets. MEA region is expected to account for the second largest smartphone population in the world.

Huawei – The 3rd largest smartphone vendor in the Middle East had recently announced that; Its smartphone sales in Middle East and Africa (MEA) region had increased by a staggering 550 percent in the first half of 2014, compared to the same time last year.

As a leading global innovator in smartphone technology – Huawei is committed to invest heavily for developing stronger partnerships and sales channels in these growing markets. Consumers across the region have reacted well to the launch of Huawei’s new flagship products – Ascend P6 and more recently the Ascend P7.

Fraz Ahmed Khan – Marketing Manager Huawei Pakistan, commented on this tremendous growth, stating that; “Consumers in the developing countries, including Pakistan, now have a much easier and very affordable way of getting connected. Huawei’s strategy is to diligently strive for offering high quality smartphones at affordable prices, since we had proactively forecasted a rising demand for handsets that allow internet access, without breaking the bank.

The IDC research further states that; “According to Go-Gulf.com; the MEA region is expecting smartphone usage to double, compared to last year.” Across the region 525.8 million people are connected with a smartphone, significantly more than in North America or Western Europe. The region is also expected to witness a further increase of 39% by 2015. Within the Middle East, Qatar has the highest smartphone penetration rates with 75% of the population.

Kerui Colombia Created a New NPT Record in Daywork Drilling

DONGYING, China, Aug. 22, 2014 / PRNewswire — In the first half of 2014, the Z103H well, a Colombian drilling project undertaken by Kerui Petroleum Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Kerui”), was completed smoothly. This well’s drilling period, completion period and construction period are 12.35 days, 22 days and 28.75 days respectively. Having been reduced to 2.5 hours, the Non-Productive Time (NPT) was favorably commented by Party A.

Since 2010 when Kerui started to provide the drilling and construction service for Party A in southern Colombia, this project has encountered many problems, such as difficult production organization, long distance and period of logistics, complexity of local community relations and employment environment, etc. Since the beginning of 2014, Kerui has taken a series of improvement measures, like further enhancing project plan management, strengthening process control, formulating the production and operation plan, the operators shift and incentive plan and the procurement plan in details, controlling the progress and key points, etc., in order to effectively improve production organization and project operation and to resolve relevant problems.

In the daywork drilling service launched at the end of 2013, the NPT indicator has met the requirement proposed by Party A, i.e., no more than 12 hours, and is increasingly optimized. Based on the previous well’s NPT, i.e., 5.5 hours, the Z103H well’s NPT has been reduced to 2.5 hours, thus getting the recognition of Party A.
