Uprising sent strong, clear message to India

Srinagar, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the ongoing people’s uprising has once again conveyed a strong and powerful message to India and its stooges that they cannot break the Kashmiris’ resolve for right to self-determination.

Syed Ali Gilani while addressing the executive body meeting of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference at Hyderpora in Srinagar, today, hailed high spirits and passion exhibited by people during the uprising. However, he warned against the deceitful tactics being played by Delhi and its local stooges to weaken the freedom movement. The representatives of all APHC constituents attended the meeting. The Executive body appealed to the international human bodies to take cognizance of the pitiable plight of Kashmiri detainees and use their influence for their release.

Hurriyet leaders Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi and Ghulam Nabi War in their joint statement condemned the murderous attack on human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo by Indian police in Srinagar.

Many youth were arrested by Indian forces during their massive search operation in Fatehgarh area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Indian Army and police have launched a crackdown operation against the youth, who participated in the protests during the 2016 uprising.Despite intense cold, scores of pellet victim youth, donning sunglasses, assembled at Press Enclave in Srinagar and protested against the use of lethal weapons on peaceful protesters.

Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi in their separate statements thanked the members of British Parliament for holding debate on the situation of occupied Kashmir and for supporting the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The Grand Mufti designate and Deputy Chairman of Muslim Personal Law Board, Muffti Nasir-ul-Islam, in a statement strongly condemned the move by BJP and PDP coalition regime to dilute State Subject laws of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the other hand, a UK-based anti-imperialist and anti-racist organization, the South Asia Solidarity Group, in a statement denounced the Bombay High Court’s judgment that justified a cold-blooded communal murder of an innocent Muslim. The group expressed its deep concern over the verdict and said that the judgment had unmasked the reality that some of the Indian courts had been vitiated and corrupted by Hindutva ideology.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visits Parachinar, Kurram Agency and Peshawar

Rawalpindi, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Parachinar, Kurram Agency and Peshawar today. COAS was given detailed briefing on Parachinar blast. COAS visited Agency hospital to meet injured of the blast. COAS met tribal elders of the Agency.

Expressing his grief on the incident, General Qamar Javed Bajwa lauded the support of tribal brethren in combating terrorism and acknowledged their sacrifices for peace. He said that with their support Army, FC and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have done a great job in stabilising the area and terrorists will fail to derail it.

COAS lauded their efforts in maintaining tribal and sectarian harmony which is source of national integration. He said that Pakistan belongs to all of us without any religious, provincial, tribal, linguistic, ethnic, sectarian or any other discrimination. On demand from people, COAS announced establishment of an Army Public School (APS) at Parachinar for quality education. Tribal elders thanked COAS for sharing their sorrow and announcement of APS. They pledged to continue supporting efforts for enduring peace and stability.

Later, COAS also visited CMH Peshawar and met critical injured of Parachinar blast that were evacuated by Army helicopters and vehicles yesterday. Earlier on arrival at Parachinar, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmed Butt, Commander Peshawar Corps.

Islam is religion of peace and moderation: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs

Islamabad, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said, Islam is religion of peace and moderation. Minister has expressed these views during his speech in Modern Dialogue and Community Peace Conference hosted by Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Minister further stated, the conference is the need of hour as the objective is to Unite Muslims of all schools of thought.

He applauded all participants of conference and their contributions. He stated conference is milestone for Muslim world and Pakistan. Islam is being paired with extremism and anti Islam elements are trying to vilify it, therefore, it is the duty of Muslim World and Pakistanis to combat with it. We should unite to present the peaceful picture of Islam to world.

He commended Pak Army and its sacrifices in war against terrorism. Ulema and Mashaikh Islam Committee is first council which has united religious scholars from all schools of thought and brought them on same page to unite and guide Muslims, he expressed this in his speech. Pakistan is like second home to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is with Saudi Arabia and its people in every circumstances. We should defeat conspiracies against Muslims and only solution is unity.

Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan forms committee for substandard stents’ investigations

Islamabad, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan conducted an emergency meeting in the committee room regarding use of unregistered stents by the doctors in cardiac and tertiary care hospitals in the country. Authority has shown his great concern on the malpractices of Cardiac Consultants and specialist who use unregistered, smuggled and low quality stents.

Authority emphasized that doctors who are registered with PMDC, they are legally bound to prescribe and use among 55 registered stents by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan. Authority emphasized that import export, distribution, sale prescribing and use of unregistered stents in the patients is a cognizable offence and FIRs will be registered against violators of DRAP ACT 2012.

A three committee comprising of Additional Director (Quality Assurance and Laboratory Testing), Director Medical Devices and Deputy Director General Labs is constituted to investigate the facts of use of stents in government hospitals and private hospitals also and also involvement of doctors in this heinous crime. It has been noticed that doctors are involved to make money and some hospitals have given rooms to private firms in Punjab.

In this regard DRAP office Labore conducted a raid on the sale Office of multinational company. B.Braun and recovered 40 unregistered stents and seized expired infusions. Premises were sealed by Federal inspector of Drugs Labore in compliance of provisions of Law. Division of Quality Assurance and Laboratory Testing is committed to take stern action against culprits who prescribe and use unregistered stents and play with the lives of poor people to fill their pocket’s. In the eyes of law, unregistered drugs and stents cannot be sold and used and all found involved are accused persons. Team of DRAP has started raids/ inspections all over Pakistan to take stern actions either it may be doctors, pharmacists or big business man.

Finance Minister chairs meeting on infrastructure projects financing

Islamabad, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): Federal Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, chaired a meeting to review the financing of infrastructure projects in the country, here today. Finance Secretary briefed the Minister on the status of financing of major infrastructure projects in the country. He also presented various measures and options for financing of various projects in the pipeline.

Finance Minister stated that while the government has substantially increased financing for infrastructure development, yet the physical infrastructure would continue to require further improvement for which greater resources would be required. The Minister stressed on the need for efficient utilization of resources and stated that timely completion of development projects was imperative to get maximum benefit from them.

He directed the Ministry to explore new and innovative ways of financing infrastructure development. He also directed the Ministry to consult various stakeholders and finalize the broad contours of infrastructure financing policy, which should form the basis for infrastructure financing in the future. The meeting was attended by Secretary Economic Affairs Division, Special Finance Secretary and other senior officials of Ministry of Finance.

Pakistan expresses condolences at sad demise of Pir Syed Ahmed Gailani

Islamabad, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): We are deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Pir Syed Ahmed Gailani, Chairman of the High Peace Council of Afghanistan. Pir Saheb was an influential religious leader who was widely respected in Afghanistan, and throughout the region for his contributions towards Islam and the Afghan nation. He will always be remembered for his tremendous efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan and promote reconciliation.

The Government and people of Pakistan express their heartfelt condolences to the family and the people and Government of Afghanistan. May Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace in Jannah (Ameen).

Sacrifices of martyrs won’t be allowed to go waste: Gilani

Srinagar, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani while paying tributes to Gaw Kadal martyrs has said that the blood of these martyrs will not be allowed to go waste and people will never forget their sacrifices.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “We are committed to fulfill their mission,” and appealed to human rights organizations including Amnesty International to utilize their offices in bringing to book the perpetrators involved in heinous crimes against humanity.

“As long as Indian forces are there, such pain giving events will continue to occur and add to the never-ending situation of uncertainty,” he said and expressed solidarity with bereaved families of martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre. He said, “We have presented unparalleled sacrifices for a sacred cause and hundreds of graveyards stand testimony to this. People sacrificed their future for us and now we are duty bound to safeguard these sacrifices and pursue their mission.”

Syed Ali Gilani appealed to intellectuals, historians and literary persons to formulate a chronological record and documentation of all these events and massacres and pass this on to next generations. It is an obligation for us to preserve all our records regarding such events,” he said.

While referring to the army officers involved in killings, he said that those involved in these crimes were roaming free and were never prosecuted for their crimes or brought to book, instead were honored and elevated to higher status. “It is because of this unaccountability that people are worst sufferers and are facing these heart-breaking events. Forces feel free and can kill anybody without any fear of accountability.”

Syed Ali Gilani while criticizing the international community’s apathetic approach and indifference towards people of Jammu and Kashmir said that they had turned their blind eye to all these gruesome happenings.

He asked the United Nations that unless the forces’ atrocities were checked and probe initiated against killers and perpetrators, human rights violations would go on unchecked. He sought help and asked international community to come to the rescue and help to stop killings in Kashmir and initiate action against preparatory of these massacres.

He condemned the arrest of JKLF Chief Mohammad Yassin Malik and said that puppet administration had virtually turned state into a military garrison and by crushing and curbing the fundamental rights they are hell-bent on strangulating every genuine voice from freedom camp.
