PIA flight steward arrested in Paris

Karachi, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): PIA flight steward Tanveer Gulzar was arrested in Paris by French Customs Authorities after search on charges of holding drugs, while going to hotel for rest. However, no details have yet been furnished by the French Authorities regarding quantity and value of drugs claimed to be found. PIA spokesman said on Saturday.

An inquiry has been initiated against Tanveer Gulzar who has already been suspended. If proven guilty he will have to face termination from service as per corporation’s rules and regulations. PIA Spokesman concluded.

Pakistan Navy launches land based anti ship missile

Karachi, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Navy test fired land based anti-ship missile as part of a training exercise from the coastal region. The missile successfully followed its pre planned trajectory till accurate target engagement at sea. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat and senior officers of Pakistan Navy were present on the occasion. While addressing the audience, the chief guest highlighted the changing security environment in the India Ocean region and corresponding challenges for Pakistan Navy.

The Vice Chief conveyed confidence of Chief of the Naval Staff on the relentless efforts being put in by the officers and men of Pakistan Navy to defend sea frontiers of our homeland. Pakistan Navy will continue to support regional peace and security initiatives to meet entire spectrum of challenges in the maritime domain. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff lauded the utmost dedication, unflinching resolve and commendable professional conduct displayed by all participants especially the crew of missile unit for making the event a complete success.

Chief of Italian Navy visits Field Commands of Pakistan Navy at Karachi

Karachi, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief of Italian Navy, Admiral Valter Girardelli was on an official visit to Pakistan. During the visit, Chief of Italian Navy called on Chief of the Naval staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at Naval Headquarters Islamabad on 07 Mar 18, where discussions on professional matters and avenues of existing and future naval collaboration were focused.

In the second leg of the visit, Admiral Valter Girardelli met various Naval Field Commands at Karachi. During the visit to Karachi, Chief of Italian Navy called on Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar, Commander Coast, Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas and Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi in separate meetings.

During the meetings, besides discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration, the Chief of Italian Navy lauded Pakistan Navy’s role and commitments in maintaining peace and stability in the region through persistent participation in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan and Counter Piracy Task Forces.

Admiral Valter Girardelli also laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid. Later, the dignitary visited various PN establishments and ships. The visit of Chief of Italian Navy to Pakistan is expected to further strengthen the bilateral defence collaboration between Pakistan and Italian in general and the two Navies in particular.

Supreme Court forms Commission in HR case No.24770-G of 2011 – mishandling of passengers

Islamabad, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Supreme Court of Pakistan’s bench headed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, in the hearing of the Human Rights case No.24770-G of 2011 dated 17-02-2018 at Registry Branch Karachi formed a Commission to submit the report before the apex court as to how the issue of mishandling the passengers, particularly overseas Pakistanis and foreigners who disembark at our Airports, they are facilitated by all good means as per the international standards.

The Commission comprised of Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan, Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Tipu Rana, Director, Human Rights Cell, Supreme Court of Pakistan and assisted by Mr. Nasrullah Khan, Joint Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan and Mr. Ali Raza, Research Officer, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.

In compliance, the Commission visited the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on 03-03-2018 and Benazir International Airport, Islamabad on 09-03-2018. The Commission examined the state of facilities and services being provided and issues faced by the passengers at Airports. The Commission also visited all passenger related areas of the Airports and noticed the problems and issues being faced by the passengers. In addition, the Commission received the grievances of the passengers in writing. The observations will be presented before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in next hearing of the case.

Islamabad Capital Territory Police has recovered 97 Motorcycles, stolen from twin cities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and various districts of Punjab

Islamabad, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): The recovered motorcycles were locked to various police stations from various special checking points during the verifications of their documents. During verification of documents from 15, it was transpired that all the motorcycles were stolen. Respective police stations have been informed about this development. SSP Operations, Najeeb-ur-Rehman Baghvi has directed to hand over the recovered motorcycles to their owners. According to details, ICT police had verified the record of the motorcycles locked in various police stations under section 550 from rescue 15. The record transpired that the motorcycles were stolen from various districts of Punjab including from twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to report, 34 motorcycles were stolen from Islamabad, 55 from Rawalpindi, 5 from Lahore, 2 from Gujranwala and one motorcycle was stolen from Sahiwal. Islamabad police has informed the relevant police stations about the recovery of motorcycles stolen from their jurisdiction. SSP Islamabad has directed SPs of all zones to handover the recovered motorcycles to their respective owners after fulfilling the legal requirements. SSP has directed all police officers to check the particulars of recovered motorcycles and vehicles from 15. He also directed the officers to ensure that the motorcycles and vehicles must not be stolen.

Imam-e-Kaba praises Shehbaz Sharif for Development

Lahore, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Imam-e-Kaba Dr. Al-Sheikh Saleh bin Muhammad al-Talib called on Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here today. Matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting. The Imam-e-Kaba, speaking on the occasion, praised the chief minister for matchless development projects in Lahore and all over Punjab, and said he had visited the city last year and found it making progress and during his current visit has found more progress in Lahore.

He said the journey of progress is continuing at the fast pace under your leadership. He said various people had told me about untiring efforts of Shehbaz Sharif for the welfare and development of the people. He said he is pleased to know that the chief minister is doing hard work for the welfare and progress of the people due to which whole province of Punjab is progressing and he prays for more successes in the future.

He said due to your hard work the progress and development will spread to whole Pakistan. He said that his visit to Pakistan is a matter of pleasure for him and the people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a strong bond of love and religion which is above all relations, the strength of Pakistan is strength of Saudi Arabia and the power of Saudi Arabia is power of Pakistan. He said Pakistan has a significant place in the Muslim world and Pakistan is playing a vital role for peace and stability in the region and the political role of Pakistan in this regard is an establish fact. He said that for these reasons Saudi Arab supports peace efforts of Pakistan and it is standing with Pakistan in this regard.

The Imam-e-Kaba said we give respect and value to the cooperation extended by the Pakistani government, the people and the Pak-Army as both the countries have historical brotherly relations and the rulers of both the countries have strong bonds of purity and mutual respect. He said the whole Muslim Ummah is very well aware of historical ties between the people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and both the countries have helped each other during crisis and the matters have been resolved in difficult times. He said that the strength of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia strengthens the whole Muslim Ummah. CM Shehbaz Sharif also talked to the Imam-e-Kaba and his delegation in Arabic.

Warmly welcoming Imam-e-Kaba for his arrival in Lahore, CM Shehbaz Sharif said your visit to Pakistan is a matter of honour and respect for Pakistan and I welcome you and your delegation to the historical and cultural city of Lahore. He said that the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are above worldly benefit and peace is our mutual asset.

He said that due to the visit of Imam-e-Kaba to Pakistan, the bilateral ties between both the countries will further strengthen and the governments and people of both the countries will further come closer. He said the hearts of people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia beat side by side and our pleasures and displeasures are common and the people of both the countries share good and bad times of each other.

He said Saudi Arabia has always supported Pakistan during normal and difficult times and the people of Pakistan can never forget the limitless cooperation of Saudi Arabia. He said the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia whole heartedly helped Pakistan and stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan during troubling times.

The Chief Minister said he is admirer of people friendly policies of Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and his policies for strengthening of education and health sectors and creation of employment are producing far-reaching results. Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed Ahmed Al-Maliki, Sheikh Saad Al-Dosari, Senator Professor Sajid Mir, Hafiz Dr. Abdul Kareem and others were also present in the meeting.

Punjab Chief Minister talks fluently in Arabic with Imam-e-Kaba; Imam-e-Kaba surprised over fluency of Chief Minister in Arabic

Lahore, March 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif talked to Imam-e-Kaba Dr. Al-Sheikh Saleh bin Muhammad al-Talib fluently in Arabic. The Imam-e-Kaba was surprised to see he chief minister speaking Arabic. During the meeting, the Imam-e-Kaba praised the chief minister for development and progress in Lahore and the whole of Punjab.

He said he visited Lahore last year and found it developed and modern city and during his current visit he is witnessing more progress in Lahore. He said he is pleased that the chief minister is making untiring efforts for development and progress of the people. The chief minister warmly welcomed the Imam-e-Kaba and his delegation, and he remained standing till the departure of the Imam-e-Kaba on his return.
