Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi calls on Commander Kuwait Naval Forces and Commander Coast Guard Kuwait at Kuwait

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi is on an official visit to Kuwait. During the visit, Chief of the Naval Staff called on Commander Kuwait Naval Forces, Brigadier General Khaled Abdullah and Commander Coast Guard Kuwait, Cdr Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousuf Al-Sabah.

During the meeting with Commander Kuwait Naval Forces, Brigadier General Khaled Abdullah, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral naval collaboration. Both the dignitaries also discussed avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation between both the navies in the field of training, provision of technical manpower and expertise.

Commander Kuwait Naval Forces acknowledged the role played by PN in providing training and trained Human Resources to Kuwait Navy. He emphasized the significance of close and strong bilateral naval association in diverse realms between Pakistan Navy and Kuwait Navy. Brigadier General Khaled Abdullah also lauded the role and commitment of Pakistan Navy for initiating sustained and credible efforts to maintain regional maritime peace and stability.

The Naval Chief also met H.E Mr Ghulam Dastagir, Ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait and Ex. Pakistani servicemen. The visit would greatly augment the bilateral cooperation between both the countries in general and Navies in particular.

Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad takes over as Commander Logistics of Pakistan Navy

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad has taken over the Logistic Command of Pakistan Navy in an impressive change of Command ceremony held at PN Dockyard today. He took over the command from Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan. Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad would now be Incharge of Logistic support to all PN Units, Ships, Establishments and repair/ maintenance facilities of Pakistan Navy.

A guard of honour was also presented to the newly appointed Commander Logistics during the ceremony. Later, Commanding Officers of the units under Command were also introduced to Commander Logistics. The ceremony was attended by a large number of officers, civilians and sailors of Pakistan Navy.

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation calls on Director General Pakistan Sports Boards

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Sheikh Amir Waheed called on Amir Ali Ahmed, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and discussed with him the possibilities of holding a joint event that could give boost to sports and business activities.

Addressing the delegation, Amir Ali Ahmed, Director General PSB said that his Board would fully cooperate with ICCI in promoting sports activities in the region. He said business community should come forward and patronize sports activities as promoting sports would also lead to better promotion of trade and industrial activities. He said ICCI and PSB could achieve mutually beneficial outcomes by developing close cooperation in areas of interest.

Briefing the business community about the role of PSB, he said that Pakistan Sports Board being the supreme body of sports monitored the activities/affairs of National Sports Federations affiliated to it and ensured proper utilization of annual and special grants given by the Board. He said the annual grants were released to the National Federations to meet their day to day expenses whereas special grants were meant for participation and holding of international sports events.

He said presently 40 National Sports Federations were affiliated with the Board and each Federation was responsible for promotion and development of its respective game/sports. He assured that PSB would provide all possible support and cooperate to ICCI in utilizing its sports facilities for playing various sports by the business community.

Speaking at the occasion, Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that sports industry was playing important role in the economic development of many countries and government should strengthen this industry in the country that would lead to better growth of economy as well.

He said PSB has quality sports facilities while ICCI had constituted a Sports Committee to promote sports activities among business community. He said PSB should cooperate with ICCI Sports Committee in organizing various sports events in its facilities. He said ICCI and PSB should consider organizing a big event that could help in promoting sports and business activities.

Muhammad Naveed Senior Vice President ICCI, Nasir Chaudhry Chairman ICCI Sports Committee, Ahmed Mughal, Khalid Chaudhry, Abbasi Hashmi, Muhammad Faheem Khan, Zarif Ahmed Khan and others were in the delegation. They also stressed upon the need of developing close collaboration between ICCI and PSB for promoting various sports in the region.

Security seminar held for Chinese staying in Capital

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT):Keeping in view the security situation in the country and threats to Chinese Nationals in the Islamabad Capital, a Security seminar was held at Allama Iqbal Auditorium of International Islamic University Islamabad by Industrial Area Police. The seminar held in collaboration with Chinese Student Council and representatives of the University security of NUML and IIU was attended by ASP Industrial Area Abdul Wahab, SHO Sabzi Mandi police station and other police officials following directions of IGP Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri and SSP Islamabad Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi.

In addition, representatives of Chinese Embassy, Chinese councillor of cultural exchange, Director of Chinese security at Chinese embassy, representative of Chinese Overseas association, President of Chinese student council, and focal person for Chinese security in Industrial Area and alarge number of Chinese students studying at different institutions of Islamabad

Chinese Students were apprised about the background of arranging this Security seminar and guidelines to be followed while staying in Islamabad whether in university campus or outside in private accommodation. They were also sensitized about steps to be taken for personal safety and what Islamabad Police is doing to keep them safe.

Representatives of Chinese Embassy also addressed the Chinese students and asked them to cooperate with Islamabad Police. They thanked and appreciated the efforts of Islamabad Police to give importance to the security of Chinese Nationals.SDPO Industrial Area assured Chinese national full security and said Islamabad police is committed for fool proof security to all foreigners and to leave no stone unturned in this regard. He said IGP and SSP Islamabad have also given special directions in this regard.

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation establishes Reintegration and Facilitation Center for Returnee Migrants: Gilani

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): The reintegration and rehabilitation of returnee Pakistani migrants is an emerging challenge for Pakistan in reference to decline of manpower export and job opportunities abroad, said Managing Director OPF Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani.

Talking to Ms. Golda Myra Roma Project Manager International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) here in Islamabad, he said that OPF has established a Facilitation and Re-integration Center (FRC) as a pilot project in its Head office to address this issue timely. Ms Golda Myra Roma arrived from Vienna Austria on a weeklong visit to Pakistan in follow up visit of a delegation headed by Ms Sedef Dearing Regional Coordinator Silk Routes along with other four high officials of (ICMPD), which had come to Pakistan last month. Senior officials of OPF were also present in the meeting today.

Managing Director said that the technical and financial support of ICMPD will play a pivotal role in capacity building of OPF officials, who will be handling the reintegration and rehabilitation process of returnee migrants for the utilization of their knowledge and expertise in the development of Pakistan and their own economic sustainability.

Besides, this center would extend integration with all stakeholders i.e. job providers, investment facilitators, vocational training and micro-financing institutions on the other hand. He said to achieve such targets, consultative workshops will be arranged for the guidance and awareness of returnee migrants for their rehabilitation.

Mr. Gilani said that the Regional Coordinator-Silk Routes Ms. Sedef Dearing of ICMPD has expressed her pride to work with OPF in a letter, which is an acknowledgment of our timely conceiving the idea to establish Reintegration and Facilitation Center (FRC) for returnee Overseas Pakistanis in OPF. He said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is being finalized to sign the OPF and ICMPD soon.

NAB virtually rejuvenated to eradicate corruption for corruption free Pakistan: Chairman NAB

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): Honourable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB chaired a meeting at NAB Lahore to review overall performance of NAB Lahore especially latest progress on all mega corruption cases which are under process at NAB Lahore. DG NAB Lahore gave detailed briefing to Chairman NAB on the latest progress on the overall performance of NAB Lahore especially latest progress on all mega corruption cases.

The Honourable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB said that NAB is absolutely committed to eradicate corruption with iron hands across the board by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy as NAB has virtually rejuvenated to eradicate corruption from the country.

The Chairman NAB directed DG NAB Lahore for not sparing any corrupt, dragging them in the dock and depositing the looted money into national exchequer as per law. He further directed DG NAB Lahore for expeditious disposal of all corruption cases including mega corruption cases on the basis of solid evidence as per law without delay and any external pressure. He appreciated the performance of NAB Lahore under the supervision of DG NAB Lahore and directed all officers of NAB Lahore to double their efforts in nabbing corrupt, proclaimed offenders and absconders as per law.

China vows to allay any apprehensions of Pakistan’s local industry

Islamabad, March 19, 2018 (PPI-OT):Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Yao Jing called on Secretary Ministry of Commerce Muhammad Younas Dhaga in Islamabad today. The ambassador briefed the secretary on the status of Free Trade Agreement between China and Pakistan. Yao Jing reaffirmed China’s commitment to allay any apprehensions of Pakistan’s local industry.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of negotiations on Free Trade Agreement, the secretary thanked the Chinese Government for accommodating concerns of Pakistan’s local industry and agreeing to provide competitive edge to Pakistani exporters in China.The secretary proposed that both sides can meet at an early date for the 10th round of negotiations to finalize the remaining issues so that a formal announcement can be made during visit of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to China next month.
