Baligh Ur Rehman chairs meeting at Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, and Chairman Federal Cabinet Committee on Implementation of Urdu as Official Language, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman chaired a meeting at Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The meeting was attended by Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Akbar Hussain Durrani, Joint Education Advisor Rafique Tahir, heads of the attached departments of the Ministry and officers of the Ministry.

The meeting reviewed the steps taken for the implementation of Urdu as official language in the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and its attached departments. The Federal Minister gave direction for the training of the Ministry’s officers from Secretariat Training Institute for their proficiency in Urdu for official correspondence.

Chief of Air Staff calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, HI(M), called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Prime Minister’s Office today. Professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Air Force came under discussion. The Prime Minister congratulated Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan on assuming his new responsibilities and expressed the hope that PAF would greatly benefit from hisprofessional capabilities and leadership. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan thanked the Prime Minister for reposing confidence in him and assured that he would perform to the best of his abilities for further strengthening air defence of the country.

Climate Change Minister arrives in Thailand to attend 2018 Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership Joint Forum

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan arrived in Thailand today to attend 2018 Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership Joint Forum. The delegation includes Additional Secretary Ministry of Climate Change Shakeel Awaan and Muhammad Fayyaz. Air pollution is a major threat to human health and well-being in the Asia Pacific region, which accounts for the bulk of air pollution related deaths globally and has some of the most polluted cities in the world. Besides its health impacts, air pollution is also a threat to the region’s economy, in terms of the lost labour income and welfare losses, food water security, and climate system, thereby undermining poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

Building on the momentum of the regions’ response to implement the United Nations Environment Assembly Resolution on Air Quality and as a follow up to the 2015 Joint Forum, the 2018 Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership Joint Forum is being organized as part of long weeklong program under the theme Solutions Landscape for clean Air.

The 2018 Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership Joint Forum will provide an opportunity to provide progress on implementation of the 2014 UN Environment Assembly resolution in Asia and the Pacific on air quality including the Asia Pacific Clean air Partnership since 2015 joint forum. It will also discuss and share the latest science, evidence and impacts of air pollution. This forum will also share and exchange practical and innovative solutions at the national and local level, featuring policy, finance and technology and develop a plan for the Asia Pacific Clean air Partnership Joint Forum to implement the UN Environment Assembly resolution on air quality in the region.

Delegation of Asian Institute of Technology calls on Minister Baligh Ur Rehman

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Delegation of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand led by President AIT Prof. Worsak Kanol Nukulchai called on Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman here on Tuesday. The Federal Minister welcomed the AIT delegation and matters related to education were discussed during the meeting. Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Akbar Hussain Durrani and Joint Education Advisor Rafique Tahir were also present in the meeting. President Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Prof. Worsak Kanol Nukulchai apprised the Federal Minister about AIT and it’s strength that AIT can offer to research students from Pakistan.

The Federal Minister said that budget allocations for education sector in Pakistan have been enhanced and the steps are being taken for the promotion of quality education in the country. The Federal Minister said that students from other countries are studying in different educational institutions in Pakistan. Baligh Ur Rehman said that research plays very important role to determine new facts and objectives. There is need to resort to latest trends and techniques of research, he said.

Pakistan Day Reception in Brussels

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):In connection with Pakistan Day, the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels organized a reception on Monday 19th March. An exhibition of famous Pakistani Truck Arts was also arranged on the event. The reception was attended by large number of member parliaments, senior diplomats, and senior representatives of European institutions, academics and media persons, says a press release received from Brussels here today. In her address, Pakistan’s ambassador to Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg Mrs. Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi highlighted the aspects of rich cultural heritage of Pakistan and the opportunities Pakistan offers for business and investment as an emerging economy. Ambassador Hashmi informed the gathering about progress being made by the country on several fronts.

She also mentioned about the great tourism potential of Pakistan particularly the high mountains of Pakistan including K2. Guests showed great interest in the Truck Art Exhibition by Anjum Rana. Introducing her initiative “Tribal Truck Art” Anjum Rana said Pakistani Truck Art is a distinct flamboyant folk art which is seen on trucks on the roads of Pakistan, it reflects the lives, ambitions, aspirations of the truck drivers and artists. She added “my mission is to foster economic and cultural sustainability for truck art and truck artists worldwide and to create intercultural exchange opportunities that unite the people of the world”.

She has developed a new arena by her initiative which has made a distinct and positive impact on the lives of the truck artists and their families. Anjum Rana was conferred the UNESCO seal of excellence award in 2008. Two Photographic exhibitions were also arranged on the occasion. The first one about the achievement of Pakistani women in various walks of life and the second about progress in economic and cultural spheres. Names of guests were also inscribed in Urdu by Mr. Shakeel Haider. Tunes of Pakistani folk songs were played on Sitar and Tabla by Belgian artists.The participants relished Pakistani food and enjoyed culture.

Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications to organize Photographic Exhibition and Essay andDrawing competition to mark Pakistan Day

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications has organized a colourful event on 22nd March 2018 to commemorate ‘Pakistan Day’ with national zeal and fervour. The Pakistan Day is celebrated every year across the country and Pakistan’s Missions abroad on 23rd March to mark the passage of Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan on 23rd March 1956. The Event will start with flag hoisting ceremony and performance of brass band by Punjab Constabulary.Pakistan Day celebrations will commence with the opening of a 6-day photographic, exhibition titled ‘Icons of Pakistan Freedom Movement’ on March 22, 2018 at Aiwan-e-Quaid Fatima Jinnah ParkIslamabad.

The exhibition to be inaugurated by Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage will display over 200 rare photographs and paintings of Father of the Nation, Thinker of Pakistan and other prominent leaders of Pakistan movement besides chronology of events leading to the creation of Pakistan.The Inauguration ceremony will be attended among others by eminent academicians, intellectuals, artists, literary figures, media persons and senior government functionaries. After inauguration, the exhibition will remain on display till March 27, 2018 for general public at the Aiwan-e- Quaid daily from 09.00 am to 6.00 pm.

To promote awareness about Pakistan Movement among the youth, the Directorate has also arranged an Essay Writing and Drawing and Painting competitions on topics, ‘Importance of Pakistan Resolution’ and ‘Minar-e- Pakistan’ respectively. The top three selected essays and sketches will be made part of the 6-day exhibition and the winners will be awarded certificates and cash prizes by Minister Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb during Prize Distribution Ceremony to be held on 22nd March 2018.

Prime Minister chairs briefing on progress of Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loan Scheme

Islamabad, March 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today chaired a briefing on the progress of Prime Minister’s Interest Free Loan Scheme (PMIFL) at Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting was attended among others by Dr. Amjad Saqib, Chairman Steering Committee PMIFL, Qazi Azmat Isa, CEO Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), Ms. Simi Sadaf Kamal and senior officials. The Prime Minister was informed that the Interest Free Loan Scheme, a poverty alleviation initiative of the present government, has been recognized worldwide as one of the most effective tool in fighting menace of poverty and enabling the poor earn a decent livelihood.

It was informed that an amount of Rs. 9.7 billion has been disbursed so far under the program with 409,805 loans given across the country including FATA, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. The Prime Minister was informed that 99% recovery rate was another manifestation of the success of the program.

The Prime Minister while expressing his satisfaction over the progress of the program, also appreciated the role of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund towards implementation of the program in a transparent and effective manner. He said that serving the poor segments of society has remained the foremost priority of the present government and the government would continue making every possible effort to enhance the scope and reach of the program through greater financial allocations.
