Mujahideen offer gun salute to martyred youth in Pulwama

Srinagar, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a group of mujahideen appeared in Litar area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and offered gun salute to a martyred youth, Irfan Ahmed Rathar. Irfan Ahmed Rathar along with another youth, Irfan Ahmed Sheikh was martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Drabgam area of the district a couple of days ago.

Eyewitnesses told media men that a group of mujahideen emerged in Litar, the native village of Irfan Ahmed Rathar, and fired several rounds in air in his honour. They added that the mujahideen left the area before the arrival of Indian troops. The locals said that later, the troops cordoned off the area and launched searches to arrest the mujahideen.

On the other hand, Indian police and troops arrested twenty-eight persons in the past one month across occupied Kashmir after labelling them as over ground workers (OGWs) of mujahideen. A police spokesman in Srinagar said that these persons were arrested in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Pulwama and Kulgam districts.

Several Hurriyat leaders summoned in 21 years old case

Srinagar, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, several Hurriyat leaders have been asked to appear before court, today, in connection with a false case registered against them over two decades ago. Warrants have been sent to different Hurriyat leaders in connection with a case lodged against them for staging intermittent protests in the heart of Srinagar city in 1998.

Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, while confirming the development told media that besides him other leaders who have been asked to appear before court include Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Sheikh Ali Muhammad, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Hubbi, Shahid-ul-Islam, Sheikh Khalid, Sheikh Aslam, Wajahat Bashir Qureshi, Muhammad Siddiq Shah, Farooq Ahmed Sodagar and Ghulam Nabi Kashmiri. He added that most of the leaders who have been asked to appear before the court are either lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail and other jails or under house arrest.

Sikh bodies hail CCG’s efforts for Kashmir’s old status

Jammu, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, various Sikh bodies have hailed the efforts of Concerted Citizen Group (CCG) headed by Yashwani Sinha, former Indian Minister as well as Bangladesh-Bharat-Pakistan Peoples Forum and J and K Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity of J and K for demanding restoration of special status of Kashmir.

These Sikh bodies included Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Shiromani Akali Dal (Kashmir), International Sikh Federation and Sikh Students Federations.

Sikh leaders of the organizations including Janak Singh, Bhai Gurdev Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Ranjit Singh, S. Manmohan Singh, S. Devinder Singh, S. Amandeep Singh, Manmeet Singh and Comrade Sukhdev Singh after a meeting in Jammu, today, told media men that Yashwant Sinha and his entire team had rightly concluded that situation in occupied Kashmir was not normal and after the India’s decision of stripping Kashmir of its special status and bifurcation had caused a huge psychological problem.

The Sikh leaders said that removal of special status and division of Kashmir without the consent of Kashmiri people had badly hurt the democratic and fundamental values of Kashmiris and was also against the international laws. They endorsed the stance of civil society groups for restoration of special status, lifting of communications blockade and release of all Kashmiri political leaders, traders, bar members and intellectuals.

They said that unresolved Kashmir dispute was the major cause of tension between India and Pakistan and appealed to the leadership of both countries and the world community to settle the dispute so that a nuclear catastrophe could be avoided and permanent peace could be established in South Asia.

PM urges world to help end curfew in Kashmir

Islamabad, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged world to help end curfew in Kashmir Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday stressed the importance of the international community playing its role in end to curfew and other restrictions in Indian-held Kashmir and peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy Deputy Foreign Minister Marzuki Bin Haji Yahya called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the PM Office to deliver an official invitation from Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad for the KL Summit being held in Kuala Lumpur on December 18-20. The prime minister conveyed his thanks for the invitation and stated that he looks forward to participating in the KL Summit.

Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciated Malaysia’s principled position on the Kashmir dispute. He also apprised the special envoy of the continuing inhuman lockdown of over eight million Kashmiris since India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, and the dire human rights and humanitarian situation resulting from it. In the bilateral context, the prime minister reaffirmed his commitment to further deepening Pakistan-Malaysia relations in all fields.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that socioeconomic development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is among the foremost priorities of the government. Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Khan Gandapur called on the prime minister here at the Prime Minister Office. The prime minister was briefed about the progress on developmental projects in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Kashmir: Right to Self-Determination seminar held

Lahore, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): Punjab University’s Centre for South Asian Studies organised a seminar titled “Kashmir: Right to Self-Determination” in its seminar room. According to a press release, Ministry of Foreign Affairs former legal adviser Ross Masud, faculty members and M Phil/PhD students participated in the event. Ross Masud discussed the concept of right to self-determination and explained the Kashmir struggle in the light of this basic human right. Keeping in view the historical narratives on Kashmir issue, he stated Kashmiris were refused their inalienable right to self- determination. He said despite numerous UN resolutions, the plebiscite never took place in the valley of Kashmir.

He said India’s recent unilateral action to annex Kashmir valley after repealing its special status was unconstitutional. He discussed various historical documents and UN resolutions that clearly asserted the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir.

The Lahore district administration organised “Kashmir Rally” on Friday which was participated by people from different walks of life, including government officers. The rally held at DC was led by Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzal. The participants chanted slogans against the atrocities constantly being inflicted on Kashmiri people by India armed forces. The DC said the international community should know the sensitivity of the matter and it was the need of the hour that Kashmiri people were given their rights promised in the light of UN resolutions.

Qureshi lauds Malaysia over firm stance against Kashmir curfew

Islamabad, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT):Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Wira Haji Marzuki bin Haji Yahya called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Friday and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests. The foreign minister apprised the Malaysian deputy foreign minister about the blatant human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Qureshi appreciated the bold stance of Malaysia against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. He said, “We are thankful to Malaysia for fully supporting Pakistan’s stance on the dispute”. He thanked the Malaysian government for its principled stance on the pressing issue. The Malaysian deputy foreign minister discussed matters pertaining to the upcoming Kuala Lumpur conference with FM Qureshi as well.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi undertook a visit to Malaysia from Nov 4-5 on the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah. He attended a preparatory meeting on Kuala Lumpur Summit chaired by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

Qureshi held separate meetings with the Malaysian foreign minister and minister of economic affairs to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, halal food, science and technology, human resource and international issues of common interest.
