Capital Development Authority conducts massive operation against encroachments and illegal constructions

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Capital Development Authority (CDA) has conducted a massive operation against the encroachments and illegal construction on the right of way of Murree Road and demolished several constructions, constructed illegally or in violation of CDA Building regulations while premises have also been sealed on account of no-conforming use. During the operation, encroachments by the hotels/ motels on right of way of Murree Road, non-conforming use of premises and other building violations are being targeted.

The operation was participated by Building Control Directorate, Enforcement Directorate, officers of ICT Administration, Islamabad Police and other concerned formations. Heavy machinery of MPO Directorate and other formations were also utilized during the operation. During the operation conducted on Sunday, 14 rooms, four guard posts, four up/down barriers and a huge shed constructed illegally Embassy Lodge’s management were demolished. Similarly, three barriers, two guard post and a fence erected on the state land by the management of Tulip hotel was razed.

Furthermore, four barriers, four guard rooms, one room and fence erected by encroaching the right of way by Best Western Hotel. Moreover, one guard post and two barriers of Hotel Pak Palace, two barriers, huge fence and water fountain constructed illegally by the Dreamland Hotels, one barrier and two boundary walls constructed by the Regency Hotel, two barriers erected by the Majestic hotel on the state land, two barriers and one guard post of Ambassador Hotel, two barriers erected illegally by Fitness Club while two barriers, three sheds and two illegally constructed rooms of the Ramada hotel were also demolished. Remaining encroachments and violations are being removed by the violators themselves.

During the operation Non-Conforming use of the premises located along the Murree Road is also being targeted. In this connection, Hotel Pak Palace was sealed on account of non-conforming use. Moreover, basement of Ramada Hotel which was under non-conforming use was also sealed. It is pertinent to mention here that hotels/motels located along Murree Road have been using the right of way of Murree Road for parking and other purposes. In the past no action in this regard was taken.

However, in continuation of the authority’s ongoing vigorous anti-encroachment drive, earlier notices were served to the managements both through newspapers and individually for voluntarily removal of all encroachments and building violations and removal of non-conforming use from the hotels and motels located along the Murree Road / Club Road. Now after completing all codel formalities, massive action has been initiated, which has resulted in removal of several installations, illegal construction on state land and sealing of premises which were under non-conforming use. The operation will remain continue without any fear or favour.

Capital Development Authority expedited action against non-conforming use

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Capital Development Authority (CDA) has expedited action against non-conforming use. Operations are being conducted against the all those premises which area violating the rules and regulations by using the premises other than the purpose of their allotment. In this connection, Building Control Directorate along with other concerned formations with the collaboration Islamabad District Administration ICT and Islamabad Police has accelerated action against non-conforming use in different areas of the city.

In this context, an operation was conducted on Monday at Markaz G-9, and a plaza constructed on plot N0.9 was sealed. The plot was basically allotted for clinic purpose, however, the premises were being used for other commercial purposes and different businesses were being operated in violation of by-laws. During this operation, Punjab Cash and Carry, Punjab Pharmacy, Simrons ladies gym, First Women Bank, a telecom franchise and nine other shops being operated in the plaza other than then purpose of allotment of the said plot were sealed.

The premises were sealed earlier and later on de-sealed on undertaking submitted by the owner of the plaza regarding removal of non-conforming use. However, after few months the premises were again being used for other commercial activities instead the purpose of allotment and action was taken on Monday. Similarly, several shops were also sealed in plaza constructed on plot No. 21-B which was basically allotted for hotel purpose but commercial activities other than the purpose of the allotment were being carried out. Moreover, basement of Miraj Hotel markaz G-9 was also sealed on account of non-conforming use.

It is pertinent to mention here that CDA through notices both individually and through newspaper informed/warned the owner of such premises which are being used other than the purpose of allotment in violation of Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning (Building Control) Regulations-2005 and CDA ordinance 1960, must bring back the premises into conforming use failing which CDA would take stern against including sealing of the premises as well as cancelation of allotment and imposition of fines.

In the meanwhile, Enforcement Directorate of the authority in continuation of ongoing anti-encroachment drive carried out an operation against illegal constructions and Encroachments and demolished a house comprising upon six rooms and two boundary walls constructed illegally on the right of way Kashmir Highway. Moreover, notices were also given to four houses where families were residing to vacate the premises by Tuesday, failing which authority will take action and illegal constructions would be demolished on the risk and cost of the violators.

CDA made completely functional Case Tracking and Acknowledgment System at One Window Operation

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made completely functional Case Tracking and Acknowledgment System for informing / updating the applicants about the status and progress on their applications. Moreover, Queue Management System has also been made functional. After the activation of the system applicants would be informed about the progress on their applications through SMS Alert while activation of queue system will help submit applications systematically.

Furthermore, in order to improve the facility being provided at OWO Directorate formal SOPs has been issued. According to the SOPs OWO Directorate will ensure disposal of applications within given time frame. In this connection, directions have been issued that the SOPs issued by the Member Administration should be strictly complied.

It is pertinent to mention here that last week Chairman, CDA while taking notice of deactivation of Case Tracking and Acknowledgment System had directed the officers and staff of OWO Directorate, Estate Wing, I.T Directorate and other formations to clear the backlog during the weekly holidays and ensured the activation of system by Monday. In line with the directions of Chairman, CDA, officers and staff of these formations complied and provided the data and now on Monday the system has been made fully functional.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination meets Nepal Sports Minister

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza held a meeting with the Nepal Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Sunar. The Minister is on a three day visit to Nepal to attend the Inauguration of the 13th South Asian Games, says a press release received here today from Nepal. Pakistan Minister congratulated Nepal for hosting the mega event with participation from SAARC countries. She added that such youth events helped create an environment of mutual understanding and strengthened the roots of democracy and in line with the spirit of SAARC.

She hoped that the SAARC process will be reactivated soon. The two Ministers discussed ways and means of enhancing bilateral cooperation. In that context the Minister mentioned that 2020 being celebrated as “Visit Nepal” year by Nepal and also coinciding with the 60th Anniversary of Pakistan-Nepal diplomatic relations would be a good opportunity to deepen the substantive cooperation in all areas, particularly sports and youth related issues.

She also invited the Nepal Minister to visit Pakistan in 2020. Referring to the mutual goodwill existing between the governments and the peoples of the two countries, Nepal Minister Sunar expressed his strong desire to make full use of the opportunities to strengthen the people-to-people bonds thorough sports and youth interactions. Pakistan Minister briefed the Nepal side on regional situation and Jammu Kashmir dispute emphasizing that the present lockdown in Jammu Kashmir must end immediately. She highlighted that regional peace and stability were pre-requisites for development and prosperity of the people which must be our priority.

All Pakistan Women Chambers’ Presidents call on Sania Nishtar to seek partnership under Ehsaas

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Presidents of all Pakistan Women Chambers accompanied by leadership of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. The meeting took stock of key challenges and opportunities for women entrepreneurs around economic activities in the country and explored options for supporting the Women Chambers under the Ehsaas that is the multisectoral antipoverty programme of the Government.

The entrepreneurial women leaders from 11 Women Chambers all across Pakistan came to the table immediately following their interaction with Dr. Nishtar at the inauguration of a three day Third All Pakistan Women Chambers Presidents’ Summit (APWCPS) in Rawalpindi. Presidents and members of Women Chambers flagged the need for institutional support to run the secretariats of the Chambers. Dr. Nishtar assured them that it will be explored at the highest level.

Women Chambers were briefed about the new Financial Inclusion Policy of Ehsaas and Dr. Sania assured them that a briefing will be arranged for members of the Women Chambers so that they can better understand how to access credit through the window of Ehsaas. In addition, they reiterated the need for support through Export Development Fund. Dr. Nishtar reassured them that this will be discussed with the Ministry of Commerce for further necessary action.

“In order for us to succeed as a country and grow our economy, we need many more women in Pakistan to have opportunities to learn, earn and thrive,” Dr. Nishtar reiterated. “That is why, the Ehsaas launched National Poverty Graduation Initiative and the Undergraduate Scholarships Programme with 50% places reserved for women and girls.” The entrepreneurial women leaders thanked Dr. Nishtar for having invited them to the table and discuss the challenges being faced by Women Chambers. They appreciated the open-door policy of Ehsaas and were delighted to have the opportunity to voice their issues with the Government.

Ambassador-Designate of Pakistan to Hungary, Mr. Muhammad Aejaz, calls on President Dr. Arif Alvi

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Pakistan will never condone the blatant human rights violation in Indian-Occupied Kashmir at the hands of fascist Indian regime and will always stand by its Kashmiri brethren, said President Dr. Arif Alvi, while talking to Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Hungary Mr. Muhammad Aejaz, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad today. He underscored that all High Commissioners/Ambassadors must highlight the true perspective on Kashmir issue and Indian oppression there.

The President said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Hungary and was keen to further enhance these relations both at the bilateral level as well as in the context of EU. However, he said that the current volume of bilateral trade between the two countries was not commensurate to the true potential.

Therefore, there was a dire need to diversify the bilateral trade, he added. He further said that Pakistan offered a range of opportunities for investment, especially in energy, agriculture and food processing, and pharmaceuticals, hence the Ambassador-designate must make all-out efforts to promote Pakistan’s economic and commercial interests in Hungary and utilize existing institutional mechanisms. The President highlighted that Pakistan’s location at the cross roads of South, Central and West Asia made it a good strategic and economic partner for Hungary especially in the context of Hungarian policy of “Eastern Opening”.

He also appreciated that the Hungarian petroleum company Magyar Oil Limited (MOL) was doing profitable business in Pakistan and ambassador-designate should encourage other Hungarian companies to follow MOL’s success model in Pakistan. While referring to the government efforts towards the promotion and development of tourism and archaeological heritage of Pakistan, he directed the ambassador-designate to encourage exchange of tourist and people-to-people contacts between the two sides.

He also appreciated Hungarian government’s initiative of offering 200 scholarships to Pakistani students. He emphasized that the ambassador must keep a close liaison with the Pakistani community in order to resolve their issues efficiently and efficiently. He wished Ambassador-designate success for his new assignment and hoped that he will work to the best of his abilities for enhancing relations between the two countries.

Commander US NAVCENT meets Chief of the Naval Staff at Naval Headquarters Islamabad

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command Vice Admiral James J. Malloy called on Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi in his office at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. During the meeting, matters related to maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region and mutual interest including bilateral naval collaboration were discussed. Pakistan Navy has been a regular contributor to the Combined Maritime Forces since 2004 and has also commanded Multinational Combined Task Forces 150 and 151, eleven and eight times respectively.
