President Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan demands relevant authorities to set up specialized medical unit at Pak-Iran border

Islamabad, March 11, 2020 (PPI-OT): In wake of the recent outspread and ongoing concerns in view of unprecedented escalation and spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, Syed Qalb-i-Hassan, The President Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) demanded the relevant authorities to set up specialized medical unit at Pak-Iran border (Taftan) for the safety, screening and scrutiny of thousands of Pakistani pilgrims present in Iran and thereafter suspected cases may be sent to quarantine facilities or provided with relevant medical facilities until they are declared clear whereas others should be allowed to go to their homes painlessly without any hesitation.

 

The President (SCBAP) further reiterated that the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan also guarantees the safety and security of its citizen, as such, the government should take concrete steps to provide safety and protection to all of its citizens whatsoever from such epidemic while bearing in mind the easiness and relive of the people of country.

Establishment of Machine Readable Passport Facility for Overseas Pakistanis and their Dependents at Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Head Office, Islamabad

Islamabad, March 11, 2020 (PPI-OT): In order to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis and their family members in line with the vision of the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) facility has been established at the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Head Office, Islamabad, with the collaboration of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI and P).

 

On the directions of Sayed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on OP and HRD, OPF is according top priority to improving its service delivery and providing enhanced facilities to Overseas Pakistanis. OPF has already established NADRA-Swift Center for Overseas Pakistanis at its Head Office in Islamabad which is providing its one-window service to Overseas Pakistanis and their family members visiting OPF Head Office on daily basis.

 

This state-of-the-art “OPF-DGI and P MRP Facilitation Center” is another step towards adoption of a citizen-centric governance model by OPF where Overseas Pakistanis are exclusively facilitated. With the establishment of this facilitation center in OPF Head Office building, all issues of Overseas Pakistanis related to MRP processing will be resolved at one place. OPF is all set to provide facilities to Overseas Pakistanis under one roof.

 

An Overseas Pakistani who visits OPF can now avail facilities under one roof like NADRA, Passport Office, Complaint Resolution, plot allotment, Foreign Exchange Remittance Card, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation membership card, death and disability compensation, provision of recommendation letter for admission of children on reserved quota seats for children of Overseas Pakistanis, financial assistance through OPF Scholarship Scheme, payment of installment of his plot, ambulance service, recovery of outstanding dues from his employer, etc.

 

Furthermore, the establishment of the OPF-DGI and P MRP Facilitation Centre will help to achieve the desired objective of both the organizations in providing state-of-the-art services to Overseas Pakistanis. The “OPF-DGI and P MRP Facilitation Center” at OPF Head Office Islamabad is operational, and Overseas Pakistanis and their dependents are invited to visit the facility for issuance/renewal of their machine readable passports.

CDA’s Anti-encroachment operations

Islamabad, March 11, 2020 (PPI-OT): Enforcement Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) while conducting operations in different parts of the city demolished several illegal structures and constructions established illegally on state land. During these operations, Enforcement Directorate is being assisted by Islamabad Capital Administration, Islamabad Police and other concerned formations of the authority.

 

During operations conducted on Wednesday, teams of the Enforcement Directorate demolished one room and one illegally constructed boundary wall constructed adjacent to a government residence in sector G-10/3. During another action, Enforcement Directorate demolished pet sheds, security cabin, tents, generators and fence erected illegally on 02 kanal state land behind Regency Hotel, Club Road. Similarly, during another operation, staff of Enforcement Directorate demolished one boundary wall on state land at G-T Road, Sara-i-Kharbooza, while encroachments and stalls illegally near Aabpara Stop were also removed during another action. Moreover, staff has been deputed so that encroachments could not be re-cropped again.

Officers of 29th mid-career management course paid a study tour at central police office

Lahore, March 11, 2020 (PPI-OT): Addl IG operations Punjab Inam Ghani said that improving the standard of investigation is among the top priorities of Punjab Police and in this regard training and refresher courses are being conducted into regular phases so that efficiency of investigation officers may be enhanced. He further said that Punjab Police has strict system of discipline matrix with respect to self-accountability and punishment and reward. Under this system, both officers and officials who commit negligence are punished equally. He further said that under the IGP special initiatives police stations project based on modern ideas, working of police stations is being improved whereas Punjab Police is paying great attention to public service delivery so that mutual coordination between public and police may be improved.

 

He further said that khidmat markaz global portal has been introduced to facilitate and also address the issues of overseas Pakistanis whereas 8787 complaint center, open courts alongwith mobile khidmat marakiz projects are also engaged in resolution of issues of public. These views were expressed by him while discussing with 52 officers of 29th mid-career management course from national institute of management Karachi, at central police office Lahore. During the study tour officers were briefed about IT reforms, public service delivery projects and steps taken for change in Thana Culture in Punjab Police.

 

Addl IG CTD Muhammad Tahir Rai briefed the officers about operations and performance of counter terrorism department and told that CTD is continued intelligence based operations for elimination of terrorists of proscribed organizations and due to effective actions of CTD, incidents of terrorism, sectarianism and extremism have been reduced considerably across the province.

 

While responding to queries asked by the officers of course, Addl IG operations Punjab Inam Ghani was of the opinion that for bringing change in thana culture, front desks, lock ups and rooms of SHOs have been digitized by applying CCTV cameras whereas police working has been upgraded with the help of Police station record management system, human resource management system, complaint management system, criminal record office, hotel eye, anti-vehicle lifting system, resource management system, crime mapping system and other modern systems by which working of police stations have been based upon modern parameters.

 

The officers of delegation asked questions regarding welfare, punishment and reward alongwith other subjects of Police officials. In the end of the tour, mutual memorial sovenoirs were exchanged between police officers and leader of the delegation. DIG training Suleman Sultan Rana, AIG operations Imran Kishwar and AIG Admin Anwar Khaitran alongwith other officers were present at this occasion.
