Minority Commission has equal representation of all religions: Foreign Minister

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that all the religions have equal representation in the newly formed Minority Commission by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Addressing a news conference in Multan this afternoon, he said that the Supreme Court has guided on the formulation of Minority Commission and we are proud of every member from minority.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that all the sacred places of the minorities including Kartarpur Corridor are safe in Pakistan. He said we wish that the Indian Muslims could also be satisfied about the protection of their sacred places in India. The Foreign Minister told that Constitution of Pakistan provides protection to the rights to the minorities. He told Muslims, Sikh, Christians and other minorities in India are the victims of Hindutva Policies of Modi regime.

COVID19: Dr Zafar dispels impression of facilities’ crisis

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services, Dr Zafar Mirza has dispelled the impression of any crisis of availability of beds, ventilators, and other facilities for Corona patients. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad this afternoon, he said only 28 percent of ventilators has so far been engaged for Covid-19 patients and there is no crisis in this regard. Dr Zafar Mirza said 723 patients are in critical condition and 201 of them or on ventilators, which is the maximum number of people on ventilators.

He said we have also developed a Resource Management System to collect and provide real-time information about Corona patients throughout Pakistan. Giving details of the RMS, Chief Executive Officer of National Information Technology Board, Shabahat Ali said all the hospitals across Pakistan have been linked with this system. He said these hospitals can individually update real time data to provide a unified and consolidated picture of the resources available to treat Corona patients in various hospitals.

Shabahat Ali said volunteer and social welfare organizations and government agencies like Edhi Foundation and Rescue 1122 will also be given access to RMS so that they can get updated information about availability of beds, ventilators, and Personal Protection Equipment for people suffering from COVID-19.He said over 1,500 hospitals across the country have been linked with this system, providing real time information about availability of space, beds, ventilators, and other facilities to handle Corona patients before moving to a particular health facility.

World Bank to provide $188mn to Pakistan to tackle climate change’ challenges

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): The World Bank will provide 188 million dollars to Pakistan to support Islamabad’s disaster resilience and ecosystem restoration initiatives. In a press releases issued today, Spokesperson of Ministry of Climate Change Muhammad Saleem said that the financial assistance will help to improve reliable and timely weather forecasting, disaster risk management and to tackle growing environmental challenges. The funding for an ambitious five-year ‘Pakistan Hydromet and Ecosystem Restoration Services project, will include during the financial year 2024-25. An agreement to this effect will formally be signed in Islamabad tomorrow.

NDMA distributing 100 ventilators among provinces in view of increasing demand of Corona patients

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is distributing one hundred ventilators among the provinces in view of the increasing demand of the Corona patients. According to the NDMA Spokesperson, a letter to this effect has been dispatched to all the four provinces for receiving ten ICU ventilators each.

He said the provinces are also being provided with ten BiPAP portable ventilators each. Ten BiPAP portable ventilators have also been allocated for Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan each. The spokesperson said medical staff will also be trained to operate these ventilators. He said provision of the ventilators has already been ensured to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences as per the required number.

Govt prioritizing development of SEZs for attracting FDI, transfer of technology into country: Dawood

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): Advisor on Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razzak Dawood says the government is prioritizing development of Special Economic Zones for attracting Foreign Direct Investment and transfer of technology into the country.

Talking to APP, he said the Special Economic Zones are primarily focused on industrialization that result in export promotion, import substitution, transfer of technologies and employment generation, which are the primary targets of incumbent government. Talking about the criteria, the Advisor said only those economic zones are given the special status which are successful in export generation and import substitution.

China says coronavirus vaccine may be ready this year

Islamabad, May 31, 2020 (PPI-OT):China says it is preparing coronavirus vaccine that may appear in the market at the end of this year or beginning of next year. China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said the inactivated vaccine is being researched and developed by Sinopharm’s subsidiary company, Wuhan Institute of Biological Products and Beijing Institute of Biological Products. China Economic Net reported that so far, over two thousand people have received vaccines injections and data show that both of its safety and effectiveness have been fully verified.
