COVID-19 situation in Sindh: one died, 321 infected: Sindh Chief Minister

Karachi, September 20, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said Sunday that one more coronavirus patient died in Sindh, lifting the province-wide death toll from the decrease to 2,460 since the outbreak of the disease. The CM said in a statement that 321 new cases had emerged when 13,198 tests were conducted, raising the tally to 133,947. Shah said that one more patient died overnight, lifting the death toll to 2,460 that constituted 1.8 percent. He added that 168 more patients recovered and the number of patients recovered so far had reached 128,407 that came to 96 percent.

The CM said that 13,198 tests were conducted against which 321 new cases emerged that constituted 2.4 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 1228,057 samples had been tested which detected 133,947 cases all over Sindh that constituted 11 percent overall detection rate. According to Shah, currently 3,080 patients are under treatment, of them 2,793 are in home isolation, five at isolation centers and 282 at different hospitals. He said that the condition of 179 patients was stated to be critical, including 24 shifted to ventilators.

The chief minister said that out of 321 new cases, 255 had been detected from Karachi, including 86 from East, 67 South, 37 Malir, 34 Central, 16 Korangi and 15 West. He added that Dadu and Tando Allahyar had seven cases each, Hyderabad six, Thatta five, Jamshoro five, Badin, Sujawal, Tando Mohammad khan and Matiari three each, Larkana two, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad one. The chief minister urged the people to follow SOPs.

Diamer Basha Dam Project: Process of Thousands of Jobs for Gilgit-Baltistan Commences

Lahore, September 20, 2020 (PPI-OT): As the construction activities on strategically important Diamer Bash Dam Project are picking up pace, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has also commenced the process for providing thousands of jobs to the people of Dimer and Gilgit Baltistan for poverty alleviation in the area and socio-economic uplift of the local populace.

WAPDA today advertised as many as 124 vacancies ranging from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 6 to 16, against which only the people belonging to District Diamer, Gilgit Baltistan will be recruited. Earlier, WAPDA also advertised 179 vacancies of BPS 14 to 20 and some 317 vacancies for security personnel. The eligible candidates hailing from the project area and Gilgit Baltistan will be given priority against these vacancies as well, since progress of the locals is amongst the foremost priorities of WAPDA.

Besides providing employment to the locals on priority, a sum of Rs.78.5 billion is also being spent for resettlement and Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) leading towards socio-economic development in the area. As many as 44 development schemes for improving the existing water supply, irrigation, health and education infrastructures. Construction of Chilas Cadet College under the CBMs is nearing completion which will help provide quality education to the local students. In addition, Thak Hydropower Project of 3 MW is also about to be completed to meet the electricity requirements of the area.

It is worth mentioning here that Diamer Basha Dam, a vital project for water, food and energy security of Pakistan, is being constructed on River Indus, 315 Kilometers (Km) upstream of Tarbela Dam, 180 Km downstream of Gilgit, and 40 Km downstream of Chilas town.

Diamer Basha Dam with gross water storage capacity of 8.1 million acre feet (MAF) and power generation capacity of 4500 Mega Watt (MW) will go a long way in stabilizing the economy. The project will also prove to be instrumental in developing the human resources and creating employment opportunities in the country. As many as 16,500 job opportunities of engineers and other staff will be made available at the national and local levels.

Capital Development Authority has received overwhelming response to Park Enclave-III project

Islamabad, September 20, 2020 (PPI-OT): Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received overwhelming response to Park Enclave-III project. For a total of 1061 plots, 1600 applications have been received by the deadline. The sale of forms separately was even higher.

This is first time ever that in a brief period of one month the project has been oversubscribed. The number of applications are along with advance amounts. CDA has already placed fencing around the proposed site, and development planning is underway. It is expected that within this calendar year development activity will be started.

CDA is likely to generate around 14 billion just with this response. Now commercial auction of Park Enclave-III will follow during the developmental phase. The management has directed that apart from physical infrastructure simultaneously work on electrification and gas supply must be started so that complete solution is provided to proposed residents. Necessary funds are being allocated and separate account for development will be maintained. Balloting for allotment of plots will be held at Jinnah Convention Center on September 24, 2020.

Auction of commercial plots being organized by CDA on September 21, 2020 at Jinnah Convention Center

Islamabad, September 20, 2020 (PPI-OT): Auction of commercial plots being organized by Capital Development Authority will commence today i.e September 21, 2020 at Jinnah Convention Center. The three days auction will remain continue on September 22, 2020 and will be concluded on September 23, 2020. Arrangements in this regard have been finalized.

The auction is being held in line with policy of the government for promotion of construction industry in the country. This is second auction of commercial plots CDA is going to hold within short period of three months. In July, CDA held historic auction of commercial plots, the investors expressed overwhelming enthusiasm and CDA auctioned 12 plots of Blue Area New vision against 17.4 billion rupees.

During three days auction proceedings, Capital development Authority will offer commercial plots from various developed sectors of Islamabad. Plots from Blue Area New Vision will also be offered for auction. Similarly industrial plots, agro farm plots, apartment plots and class III shopping centre plots will also be offered for auction. Plots from G-10 Markaz, I-8 Markaz, Diplomatic Enclave, F-10 Markaz, Industrial Triangle Kahuta and various class III shopping centers including G-9/1, G-9/2, G-10/3, G-11/4 and I-11/4 will be offered during upcoming auction. CDA has constituted a committee headed by Member Finance to conduct auction proceedings.

The chief minister extended heartfelt sympathies with the heirs of the deceased. Usman Buzdar directed that best treatment facility should be provided to the injured child the only survivor of the accident. The chief minister sought a report from the administration.

Opposition cannot hoodwink people through APC drama: Usman Buzdar

Lahore, September 20, 2020 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that opposition parties are deceiving themselves on the APC. He said that unemployed politicians should keep this in mind that APC cannot assure public acceptability but serving people is the real politics which is the hallmark of PTI government. He said that people of Pakistan have complete confidence on the bold and honest leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The rejected elements had done nothing before and will not get anything in future as well. He said that APC of opposition parties will end in a fiasco. He said that the opposition parties have already been divided and will further split after APC.

He said that opposition has once again proved that they only gathered for protecting their personal interests. Opposition parties have totally ignored the national interest. Those who looted the national exchequer cannot hoodwink the people through the drama of APC. People of Pakistan are well aware and recognized the ineligible and corrupt faces.

The rejected elements cannot deceive the conscience people of Pakistan. Opposition parties are trying to create hurdles in the progress and prosperity of the country. He said that the negative role of the opposition is highly deplorable. He said that Pakistan cannot afford any more chaos. The drama of APC will also be failed like past, he added.
