Government to hold by-elections on vacant seats if opposition parties resign from assemblies: Shibli

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz says Opposition parties want to abolish National Accountability Bureau to get rid of corruption and money laundering cases.

In an interview with a state television channel, he said the government would not be blackmailed through tactics of Opposition benches.

Shibli Faraz said the government would hold by-elections on vacant seats if Opposition leaders tender resignation from the assemblies.

In reply to a question about Senate elections, he said Election Commission of Pakistan can conduct the election before the schedule after seeking advice from the apex court.

He said the government has already submitted an application to concerned quarter for early Senate elections.

Shibli Faraz said government would bring electoral reforms besides amendment in NAB laws after the Senate elections.

MoH issues permit to private sector to purchase Covid-19 vaccine: Nausheen Hamid

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Nausheen Hamid says the Ministry of Health has issued permit to private sector to purchase Covid-19 vaccine.

Talking to a private news channel, she said the companies will have to register with Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan after which rates of the vaccine will be fixed. Nausheen Hamid said the government’s administered corona vaccine will be provided free of charge.

Saudi Arabia reaffirms its full support to Pakistan’s position on all matters

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its full support to Pakistan’s position on all matters, especially on regional issues.

The assurance was given by Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed Al Malkiy, who called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral defence relations between the two brotherly countries were discussed.

Meanwhile, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan Mohan Wijewickrama also called on the Army Chief.

They discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral cooperation.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability and progress made in fight against terror.

Delegation of Taliban Political Commission to arrive in Pakistan today

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): A delegation of the Taliban Political Commission led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is arriving Pakistan on Wednesday on three-day visit.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, during the visit, the delegation will meet with the Foreign Minister and call on the Prime Minister.

The Spokesperson said the visit of Taliban Political Commission delegation is part of Pakistan’s policy to reach out to key Afghan parties in the Afghan peace process with a view to facilitating the Intra-Afghan Negotiations that commenced in Doha on 12 September this year.

He said Pakistan will continue to support an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement for durable peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan and the region.

Industrial growth in country accelerating as economic recovery gathered pace

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar says industrial growth in the country is accelerating as economic recovery gathered pace. In a tweet, he said large scale manufacturing grew by 5.46 percent in July to October this year as compared to same period last year. Asad Umar said growth in October was even higher at 6.66 percent compared to October last year.

No religion allows killing humanity: Qaiser

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser says December 16th reminds us the tragic and barbarous acts of terrorists who killed innocent children and teachers in Army Public School, Peshawar for their nefarious designs.

In a press release, he said such barbarity and cruelty is unprecedented as no religion allows killing humanity.

Asad Qaisar said scarifies of the innocent children of APS Peshawar will not go wasted and the scourge of terrorism and extremism would be rooted out from the society.
