Dr Faisal Sultan urges people to strictly adhere to Covid SOPs

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has urged the people to strictly adhere to the SOPs to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus. In a video message, he pointed out that increasing cases of Covid-19 are increasing the burden on the health facilities. He said the people should wear masks, observe social distancing, hand wash with regular intervals and avoid big gatherings.

The Special Assistant said the people should observe precaution whilst celebrating their events such as weddings or the Christmas. Faisal Sultan said cooperation is required at the grassroots level to check the spread of the pandemic.

Pakistan desires durable peace in Afghanistan: Foreign Minister

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan desires durable peace in Afghanistan. He was talking to a delegation of the Taliban Political Commission led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Islamabad today. The Minister said Pakistan played its possible reconciliatory role in the agreement reached between the Afghan Taliban and the United States in Doha. He said agreement on the rules for intra-Afghan talks is a welcome development. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan has been stating since the beginning that the only way for peace in Afghanistan is meaningful and comprehensive dialogue.

He said peace in Afghanistan is imperative for peace and stability in the entire region. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan wants promotion of multifaceted ties with Afghanistan. The Afghan Taliban delegation head Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar lauded Pakistan’s reconciliatory efforts for peace in Afghanistan.

India’s hegemonic designs intoxicate its relationship with South Asian neighbours: President

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): President Arif Alvi has said India does not enjoy good relations with any of its neighbouring countries including Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal because of its hegemonic designs. Addressing a seminar titled “Understanding Hindutva Mind-set and Indian Hegemonic Aspirations” in Islamabad today, he said Hindutva ideology has captured the entire Indian society. The President said India is falling into pitfalls of extremism, hatred and polarization. Resultantly, it is becoming an exclusive society. He said India is pursuing a dangerous and belligerent course which poses a threat to the regional peace and security.

Arif Alvi regretted the victimization of minorities especially the Muslims in India. He said the Muslims there have not been given due representation in the political setup. President Arif Alvi said on the other hand Pakistan is becoming an inclusive society. He said Pakistan has successfully come out of all the challenges and it is on the threshold of becoming a great nation.

People will be vaccinated against Covid-19 free of cost: Dr Faisal

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said the anti-Covid-19 vaccine to be procured by the government will be vaccinated free of cost to the general population. In a media briefing in Islamabad today, he assured that the vaccine will be procured keeping in view its safety, efficacy and effectiveness. He said one hundred and fifty million dollars had initially been set aside for the vaccine procurement and the amount can be further enhanced keeping in view the situation.

The Special Assistant said that the provincial authorities and other relevant institutions at a meeting today were also briefed about the national effort being made for the procurement of the vaccine. Faisal Sultan said the virus positivity ratio has reached seven to eight percent and its intensity has increased in big cities. He once again asked the people to fully comply with the SOPs to avoid the spread of the virus.

Prime Minister vision for Pakistan based on economic security, human welfare: Dr. Moeed

Speaking at a webinar, he said that connectivity is a key objective and that is why Pakistan is focused on China Pakistan Economic Corridor and peace in Afghanistan. Dr Moeed Yusuf said that economic security and military security are intertwined and one could not be pursued at the expense of the other.

President, PM express resolve to curb terrorism on anniversary of APS tragedy

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): The sixth anniversary of the tragic incident of terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar was observed on Wednesday. One hundred and forty seven people, mostly students and teachers were martyred in the terrorist attack on this day in 2014. In his tweet on the occasion of anniversary of APS terrorist attack, President Arif Alvi said this incident brought tears in the eyes of the nation. He said the children laid their lives and brought focus of the nation to suppress terrorism with all its might.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his tweet said Pakistan remains determined and is moving forward in fulfilling its commitment against the menace of terrorism. He said the extreme act of terrorism against children and teachers of Peshawar Army Public School shocked and grieved the entire nation. He said the nation came together with a resolve to take on those responsible.

China hails President Alvi’s remarks for bilateral cooperation on CPEC

Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT):China has appreciated President Dr. Arif Alvi for his remarks about bilateral cooperation for progress on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects despite Covid-19 challenge. Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Wang Wenbin said during his regular media briefing today that CPEC has been developing with a positive momentum since its inception in 2013, as a pioneer project of Belt and Road Initiative.

During an interview with a Chinese TV, the President had said Pakistan’s ties with China have been strengthened as the two countries worked together to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic as well as deepen cooperation on CPEC.
