No compromise to be made on quality of developmental projects in KP: Mushtaq

Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani says no compromise will be made on quality of developmental projects in the province.

Addressing a function in Abbottabad, he said more than one hundred and ten million rupees have been approved for laying of astroturf in Abbottabad hockey ground, work on which will soon be started.

He said grant of media colony will be included in the upcoming annual development schemes.

The Speaker further said the problems of journalist’s community will be resolved on priority basis.

Govt will continue efforts for development of Sindh including Karachi: Asad

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said the federal government will continue its efforts and extend help for the development of Sindh including Karachi.

Addressing the party workers in Karachi today (Sunday), he said the local government system of Sindh does not meet the spirit of the constitution of Pakistan as all the local government powers rest with the provincial government.

Asad Umar said there should be an empowered local government system across the province including Karachi but it is not empowered politically, financially and administratively.

He added that Pakistan Tehreek Insaf and Muttahida Qaumi Movement have filed a petition in the supreme court of Pakistan regarding the powers of local government.

Homes for poor to be constructed on land retrieved from land-mafia: Shahbaz Gill

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill has said that homes for the poor will be constructed on the land retrieved from the land-mafia in different parts of Punjab.

Talking to the media men in Lahore, he said the government will provide easy loans to the poor to build homes on the land worth billions of rupees vacated from the land mafia in Lahore and other cities.

Shahbaz Gill said government is not only opposed to the land-mafia but their patrons as well.

President calls for promotion of book reading culture

President Dr Arif Alvi has called for promotion of book reading culture to enhance knowledge and suppress biases.

In a video message, while sharing his best 10 reads of 2020, the President said he studied books on current affairs and computer sciences and tried to disseminate his knowledge to the masses through his speeches.

He said the people should also read the useful material of their choice.

The President put at top a book “Revelations” by Meraj Mohiuddin presenting a wide variety of scholarly viewpoints on the story of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and Qur’anic revelation.

He also strongly recommended books, including Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Dobelli, “Upheaval: Turning Points for Nations in Crisis” by Jared Diamond, “Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty” by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson and other books on different subjects.
