PM orders to provide financial assistance to fire-affected farmers in Sialkot

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered provision of financial assistance to farmers, whose wheat crop caught fire in Sialkot due to a technical fault in a harvesting machine.

He directed the Punjab Government to immediately release cheques to the affected farmers.

It is pertinent to mention that the fire erupted due to a malfunction and leakage in a harvester machine. As a result of which, a fire erupted that burnt fields of ready to harvest wheat crop in Bela Pul Bajwaan village of Bajwat Sector in district Sialkot.

According to a government report, 15 farmers were affected and the fire engulfed standing crop on 77 acres of land.

Govt working tirelessly to solve issues faced by country: Ahsan

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that the new government is working tirelessly to solve the issues faced by the country.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Sunday, he said that work is being done at a fast speed under Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s leadership. He said that Pakistan will keep moving forward and we will make the country’s economy strong again.

He said China gifted us the CPEC mega project which was damaged by the previous government, during whose tenure, investment not worth even one dollar came into the country.

He said that the PTI Government did not launch work even on a single industrial zone under CPEC out of nine, which were supposed to be completed by 2020.

He said that the European Union granted us GSP Plus status as well as huge markets. However, Imran Khan started to challenge the EU to save his politics.

He said that US markets provide a huge platform for the progress of our businesses. He said that Pakistan wants access to US trade markets as well as US technology in several sectors.

Ahsan Iqbal said that Imran Khan is playing with the country’s interests to keep his failed politics alive and pamper his ego.

The Federal Minister said that Imran Khan termed the No Confidence Motion against his government an international conspiracy. He said that the National Security Committee has twice stated that as per probe done by the country’s top intelligence agencies, no conspiracy has been found in the diplomatic letter.

He said that Imran Khan questions courts’ verdicts during his public gatherings. He said that courts were opened at midnight to stop violation of the constitution. He said that the former PTI Government insulted the Supreme Court by not following its verdict regarding local governments. He said that Imran Khan is now making the Election Commission controversial as he knows the expected decision by the Election Commission in the Foreign Funding Case.

To question, the Federal Minister said that the new government will not make any baseless case against its opponents.

PM announces two-month remission in sentences of prisoners on Eid-ul-Fitr

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced to reduce prisoners’ sentences all over the country, by two months on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr and also to bring perks of Jail Officers and Staff at par that of Police.

He made this announcement during a visit to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on Sunday.

Shahbaz Sharif also announced the formation of a Jail Reforms Committee, headed by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, to evolve a comprehensive strategy to facilitate prisoners and overall improvement of the Jail system.

He said that the Committee will include Chief Secretaries of all provinces, Jail authorities, education prisoners and their relatives.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that it is the government’s responsibility to facilitate prisoners as useful citizens of society after completion of their sentence. He stressed upon Jail authorities to utilize all available resources effectively.

Later, Prime Minister made an unannounced visit to a Ramadan Bazaar in Johar Town area of the city. He directed to ensure provision of daily use items to the public at cheaper rates during Holy month of Ramadan.
