Pakistan, Belarus agree to work together for disaster management

Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to work together for disaster management, mitigation and emergency response.

The understanding was reached during a meeting of a three-member delegation of Belarus led by the country’s Deputy Minister for Emergency Situation, Major General Bolotov Igor with Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Belarusian delegation assured full support of their country in the field of disaster management.

Sajid Turi assures to resolve issues of Overseas Pakistanis on priority basis

Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi has assured to resolve issues being faced by Overseas Pakistanis on priority basis.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore on Thursday, he said special courts will be established for the facilitation of those overseas Pakistanis whose properties including land have been occupied by land grabbers.

Regarding educational facilities to the children of overseas, the Minister revealed the plan to establish University where special quota will be allocated for them.

Pakistan to continue engagement with Afghanistan for regional peace: FO

Pakistan believes in peaceful neighborhood and reiterates that it will continue engagement with Afghanistan on different issues for regional peace and stability.

This was stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during her weekly press briefing in Islamabad today.

She said Pakistan and Afghanistan have the mechanisms of talks to resolve issues which yield positive results. She said Pakistan is committed to countering terrorism and we will definitely defeat the terrorists again.

Replying to a question, the Spokesperson said all required step will be taken to protect sovereignty and citizens of the country.

She said war and instability in Afghanistan caused huge loss to both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Spokesperson urged the Afghan interim authorities to revisit their decision of banning girls from education as they have full right to participate in all aspects of life.

Talking about the Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s visit to United States, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said it will definitely yield positive outcomes for Pakistan.

She said the visit was an important step towards further strengthening Pakistan’s broad based bilateral ties with the United States.

About the grave human rights violations committed by the Indian occupation forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, she urged New Delhi to stop massive human rights violations immediately. She said India must be held accountable for these injustices. The only way to lasting peace in South Asia is by granting the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Inter-ministerial meeting discusses proposed plan on ‘Donors Conference’

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired an Inter-Ministerial meeting on Donors Conference, at Finance Division on Thursday.

The meeting discussed the proposed plan for the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan to be held on 9th of next month in Geneva.

The conference co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Nations aims to garner international support for the people and Government of Pakistan to build back Climate resilient Pakistan after the devastating floods of 2022.

It will also secure international humanitarian support for reconstruction and rehabilitation arrangements for the post-flood recovery.

Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a detailed presentation on draft agenda of the proposed conference with modalities, invitees, potential donors, and schedule of the conference.

It was informed that heads of States and Governments from number of countries, UN agencies as well as leaders from private sector, civil society, and international development and financial institutions will participate in the conference.

The participants suggested re-articulation and reconsideration of some agendas with modifications to make the conference more participatory and meaningful and to present strong case for Pakistan at the international forum.

All the participants agreed to extend all out support to make the conference successful.
