Women’s participation inevitable in socio-economic development: NA Speaker

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said women’s participation is inevitable in socio-economic development of the country.

 

Talking to United Nations Women’s Country Representative Sharmeela Rasool in Islamabad today, he said the constitution guaranties the provision of all fundamental rights to women. Pervez Ashraf stressed the need to provide education, health and economic opportunities to all women.

COAS lauds rescue team’s work during Turkiye-Syria earthquake

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir today visited Headquarters Engineers Division, Rawalpindi. He was briefed in detail regarding efforts carried out by Pak Army Urban Search and Rescue Team during Turkiye and Syria Earthquake.

 

He met and interacted with the rescue team members and appreciated their professionalism and commendable work done during rescue efforts in the earthquake. The Army Chief highlighted the importance of our enduring strategic relations with Turkiye and Syria and need to assist, particularly in times of crises.

ECC approves procurement price of wheat at Rs3900/40kg

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has approved a uniform procurement price of wheat at 3900 rupees per 40 kilogram. The meeting was held in Islamabad with Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in chair on Wednesday.

 

The ECC, after discussion, approved hybrid model of Ramzan Relief Package (Targeted and Un-targeted) consisting of 19 items for Utility Stores Corporation, budgeted of Rs. 5 billion. Ministry of Industries and Production presented a report on the logistic plan of PASSCO for in-land transportation of imported wheat 2022-23. The ECC considered and noted the report.

 

The ECC considered a summary submitted by Ministry of Maritime Affairs and approved Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Board Resolution regarding waiving off all the charges of storage on the stuck-up containers/cargo landed help up at Karachi Port as a result of non-retirement of Letter of Credits and remittances of Foreign Exchange subject to condition that demurrages charges on each case beyond Rs. 5 million will be waived off after getting certification from SBP. The ECC further directed to submit a report on magnitude and amount of cleared consignments on monthly basis.

 

The meeting considered another summary of Ministry of Energy (Power Division) on uniform tariff for K-Electric at par with XWDISCOS 1st Quarter 2022-23 and allowed tariff rationalization by way of adjustments for K-electric on the consumption of Feb-23 to March-23 and to recover from consumers in March-2023 to April 2023respectively. The ECC also approved various Technical Supplementary Grants.

Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani in a Meeting with a Delegation from District Chaghi, Balochistan at Parliament House Islamabad

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): A delegation of notable individuals and youth from District Chaghi met Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, at the Parliament House on Wednesday. During the meeting, matters related to the development of Balochistan and, in particular, District Chaghi were discussed.

 

Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, emphasized the need for the youth to focus on skill development. He also stated that Gwadar has the potential to change the fate of Balochistan province. The delegation highlighted the issues confronting the local population in Chaghi, and Chairman Senate assured them that their concerns will be addressed.

 

Furthermore, Chairman Senate informed the delegation about the upcoming Senate Golden Jubilee and the role of the upper house of parliament in mitigating the problems faced by smaller provinces. The meeting was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, and both sides expressed a commitment to work together for the development of Balochistan and the welfare of its people. “The Senate remains dedicated to addressing the issues facing the province and providing opportunities for its citizens”. said Chairman Senate.

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora as Ambassador-at-large for Kartarpur Corridor. According to a notification issued in this regard today, Sardar Ramesh Singh will work on this position in honourary capacity. Sardar Ramesh is also Central General Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Minorities Wing.

Government trying to reduce burden on masses by providing low-cost electricity: Prime Minister

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says the government is trying to reduce the burden on people’s pockets with low-cost and environment-friendly electricity. He was presiding over a meeting to review development regarding solarization of government buildings across the country in Islamabad on Wednesday.

 

The Prime Minister said we will not tolerate any obstacle in implementation of measures to reduce dependence on imported fuel. He directed to install solar systems in government buildings in Islamabad within the next 7 weeks. He further directed the authorities concerned to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

 

The Prime Minister said that work on solarization of federal government buildings in other areas of the country should also be started immediately. The meeting was informed that 496 government buildings in Islamabad, 340 in big cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Quetta and 1255 government buildings in other areas will be replaced with solar energy. The meeting was informed that the installation of solar panels in government buildings in Islamabad will be done on emergency basis.

Islamabad Judicial Complex: Sanaullah announces strict action against PTI workers involved in vandalism

Islamabad, March 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has announced strict legal action against PTI workers involved in vandalism and hooliganism in Islamabad Judicial Complex. Talking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said two cases have been registered against the culprits and so far 29 people have been arrested. He said CCTV footage of the incident has been acquired in which around 200 people were nominated. He said footage of the incident will be provided to the media so that the entire nation should see the face of these criminal minded elements.

 

The Minister said scuffle with the media persons on the premises of the judicial complex is also condemnable and action will be taken against the responsible. Rana Sanaullah said Imran Niazi wilfully organized his workers to undermine courts and this tendency is unacceptable. He appealed the nation to vote out the evil of Imran Niazi in the upcoming election to protect Pakistan from any untoward incident.
