Emir of Qatar vows to continue supporting Pakistan in its development agenda

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani has reiterated his strong resolve to continue supporting Pakistan in its development agenda. He expressed this resolve while welcoming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting in Doha on Sunday.

 

The Emir also expressed Qatar’s keen interest in enhancing economic cooperation with Pakistan. They also exchanged views on bilateral interests and to further strengthen the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in all fields including trade and investment. The Emir also commended the services of the Pakistani workforce in the development of Qatar, especially the performance of Pakistani security officials on the successful holding of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

 

While acknowledging the continued Qatari support for the development projects in Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted vast opportunities of cooperation between the two countries. Shehbaz Sharif invited Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani to visit Pakistan, which he accepted with pleasure.

Pakistan, US to hold counter-terrorism dialogue in Islamabad

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and the United States will hold a two-day Counter Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad on Monday. Additional Secretary (UN and ED) Syed Haider Shah will lead Pakistan delegation and the US delegation will be headed by Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Christopher Landberg.

 

The dialogue is aimed at discussing common threat of terrorism, cooperation at multilateral fora and countering financing of terrorism. The two-day dialogue will provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views and share their experiences and best practices in the domain of counter-terrorism.

Govt increases BISP stipend amount by 25 percent: Kundi

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Faisal Karim Kundi says government has increased the amount of stipend of Benazir Income Support Programme by 25 percent. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said around nine million people are receiving the stipend through BISP.

 

The Special Assistant said Benazir Income Support Programme has also started dynamic survey to register more beneficiaries. He said dynamic survey offices have been established in all Tehsils of the country and people should visit them to get themselves registered.

Least Developed Countries badly affected by climate change: PM

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in Doha, Qatar to participate in Fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries. Shehbaz Sharif, in a tweet, has said that he will share Pakistan’s perspective on the socio-economic challenges facing Least Developed Countries in Asia and Africa.

 

He said Least Developed Countries have been badly affected by climate change, post-pandemic and geo-strategic disruption in food and energy supply chains and these global events have left them vulnerable. The Prime Minister said Least Developed Countries will be better served by putting welfare of people at the center of public policy.

PM in Doha to participate in UN Conference on Least Developed Countries

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached Qatar on a two-day official visit. He will participate in the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha. The Prime Minister will address the conference tomorrow. Emir of Qatar will hold reception in honour of participating heads of the states and prime ministers.

Foreign Minister to chair special event in Commemoration of Int’l Day to combat Islamophobia

Prime Minister participates in UN Conference on Least Developed Countries, beginning in Doha today

Islamabad, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, beginning in Qatar’s capital Doha today. The five-day conference will consider steps for accelerating sustainable development in the Least Developed Countries and helping them to make progress on road to prosperity. On the sidelines of the Conference, the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings and interact with participating leaders and Heads of Delegations.

 

Pakistan has been playing a leading role at UN platforms to amplify the collective voice of the Global South to promote sustainable development worldwide. The Prime Minister’s participation in the Conference will signify Pakistan’s support and solidarity with the Least Developed Countries in their quest for social progress and economic prosperity.
