55,000 youngsters to be given job training this year, says Chief Minister Sindh

Karachi, February 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that as many as 55,000 youths would be provided job skill training with stipend incentives under Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programe (BSYDP) during current calendar year, enabling them to get job opportunities in public-private sectors and to earn their livelihood form self employment in the market.

He said that as many as 1,98,000 youths had been provided job training in different trades during his last tenure of govt, out of which more than 60,000 youth have been got themselves absorbed in Private and Public sectors while many thousands were earring from self employment in the market under this programme.

This he observed while presiding over meeting with management of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) at CM House Karachi today.

The Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana, Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar, Special Secretary to CM Abbas Baloch, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Chairman BBSYDP Air Marshal (R) Riazuddin Shaikh, M.D BBSYDP Karim Bux Siddiqui, Consultant to CM on Youth Development Engineer Taimoor Siyaal, and Suleman Dasti and other officers attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister said that success of BBYSDP could be gauged from this fact that 84000 application have been received from the youth for getting training where as the institutions with the BBSYDP have the enrolment capacity only for 53,000 candidates.

The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that BBSYDP has been appreciated by the World Bank and other International Donner Agencies, especially with reference to provide qualitative skill development training to minimize the poverty and unemployment from the society.

He said that after the big achievements of the BBSYDP the International Donner Agency IDA has offered 1606.88 million soft loans to provide job skill training to additional 45,000 youths within 3 years.

Besides UNICEF has also offered financial assistance to provide alternate job training to the 8000 children’s of the farmers of cotton growing areas in Ghotki and Khairpur districts to replace them from health hazards labour (cotton picking) to green job.

Similarly the World Bank has also offered the $100 million for the youth development schemes in the Sindh he added and said that hopefully these initiatives of this govt to minimize the unemployment, provide income and employment opportunities to the youths in millions in near future.

He said that it will further increase the purchasing power of people and encourage investment to meet the demand of the market.

Appreciating the efforts made by the management of the BBSYDP for running the programme on merit and in efficient manner, the Chief Minister Sindh directed the officers to enhance the institutional network of this programme in such a way so that not only all the applicants be enrolled for training but they should be absorbed in the jobs in public and private sector and enable to run their own business after training.

The Chief Minister Sindh also directed the management to establish the youth employment facilitating centre (YEFC) in each district to guide the youth for getting training, jobs and self employment for their future carers.

The Chief Minister Sindh said that World has became a global village and qualitative competition was at our door step so that all job skill training centres must be re equipped, modernized and converted in to leading institution of the regions.

The Chairman BBSYDP Mr. Riazuddin Shaikh and M.D Karim Siddique briefed the meeting about the achievements and future plan of the institution. They said that training in 389 different trades being delivered under BBSYDP.

They said that they have strength of 4528 trained tutors. They said that World Bank and International labour organization I.L.O have conducted trace study to ascertain the impart on the employability and termed it satisfactory as par world standard.

They were of the view that BBSYDP is addressing twin issues of the poverty and un-employment through Human Resources Development in the Sindh Province from 2008 and completed its 4 phases with success, provided training about two lakh youths and it endeavouring to enhance its capacity, provide training to more youths in more market oriented traders including information technology.
