68th Independence Day celebrations in Denmark

Copenhagen, August 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was observed with great zeal and enthusiasm in Denmark today. The main event of the celebrations was the flag hoisting ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Copenhagen.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani community representing various walks of life. This included professionals, academicians, mediamen, politicians, poets and students. Mr. Nadeem Farooq, Member of the Danish Folketing (Parliament) also attended the ceremony.

The flag hoisting was performed by Ambassador Masroor A. Junejo with the accompaniment of the national anthem. Students of the Iqbal International School and the Jinnah International School rendered Milli songs.

Ambassador Junejo in his remarks paid rich tributes to the forefathers of Pakistan and briefed the community regarding steps that the government was taking to address the challenges being faced by the country.

He also paid rich tributes to the members of the Armed forces and the personnel of law enforcement agencies who have been offering great sacrifices for security and territorial integrity of Pakistan. The Ambassador also participated in a cake cutting ceremony during which he interacted with the students of the two schools and highlighted the significance of the Independence Day.

The ceremony ended with distribution of certificates to the children of two Schools who had participated in the event and prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Special prayers were also offered for the success of operation Zarb-e-Azab.
