A delegation of leather industry leaves for India

Karachi, February 01, 2016 (PPI-OT): In a press statement issued today to all print and electronic media informed that a High Powered delegation led by Mr. Gulzar Firoz, Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association having representatives of all stakeholders of Leather Sector of Pakistan has embarked today to India for the “Study Tour to India” duly sponsored/supported by PITCO under Pakistan Leather Competitiveness Programme of EU with the significant purpose for finalising the “Leather Export Promotion Council” in Pakistan.

The 15 Members high powered delegation comprising Representatives from PTA (Mr. Muhammad Musaddiq, Mr. S. Anjum Zafar) from PLGMEA Mr. Zulfiqar Hayat, Chairman, Mr. Rashid Rizwan, from PGMEA, Mr. Sadat Ali Khan, Chairman, from PITCO Mr. Usman H. Malik, Project Director, Mr. Mohammad Hameed, Mr. Muhammad Atif as well as 2 Representatives from Ministry of Commerce, Govt., of Pakistan, Mr. M. Ashraf, Joint Secretary and Ms. Serein Asad, Section Officer.

The delegation to India is the follow up for the announcement of Leather Export Promotion Council (LEPC) in Pakistan already made by the Honourable Federal Commerce Minister, Engr., Khurrram Dastagir Khan made during Inaugural Ceremony of 2nd Pakistan Mega Leather Show held on 28.01.2016 in Lahore.

The supreme motive for the delegation is to make more close coordination with Council of Leather Export (CLE) in India which is the similar autonomous body in India for Leather Industry to ascertain the tested effective tools as adopted by them at the time of finalization of their council in India and are operating in the leather council successfully with other information and features to facilitate and enable to make Council in Pakistan with the same motive to achieve the desired goals for the promotion of country’s export in Pakistan as per aspiration of the Government of Pakistan.

The delegation would also attend the 19th Int’l footwear Congress to be held from 3-5th Feb, 2016, wherein around 20 countries representative participating and to attend the India Int’l Leather Fair to be held from 1-3rd February, 2016 at Chennai, India while necessary meetings in MOC India for the specific purpose are also being arranged, besides the Delegation would also meet with the H.E. The Honourable Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan in Delhi, India on 05.02.2016.

The leader of the Delegation, Mr. Gulzar Firoz, Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association shown his strong optimism at the time of departure to conclude the desired objectives of the delegation for facilitation in finalising the structure of the Leather Export Promotion Council in Pakistan which would be an icon and real platform for Leather Sector for the resolution of grievances of Leather Sector exporters and promotion of country’s exports in a more rapid pace.
