Srinagar, March 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Aasiya Andrabi, has condemned the continued illegal detention of party activist, Fehmida Sofi.
Aasiya Andrabi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities had pushed Fehmida Sofi to the verge of death in jail.
She said, “Fehmida has been lodged in an unhygienic cell in Baramulla jail where her health deteriorated to an alarming proportion. She was rushed to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar where she was operated.” She said that soon after surgery, Fehmida was taken back to jail where her health again deteriorated due to lack of medical facilities.
Aasiya said that Fehmida Sofi was again taken to hospital handcuffed and when she objected to her being handcuffed, the Line Officer snubbed her. She said that the DeM would file a case against the Line officer for handcuffing the ailing detainee.
The DeM Chairperson said Fehmida Sofi was granted bail during detention in Baramulla jail, but the police booked her in another fake case.
