Top Abu Dhabi Commercial and Residential Address Using Meru Wi-Fi for Internet, Voice and SMS
DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES–( Marketwired – Oct 22, 2013) – GITEX 2013 — Meru Networks® (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in Wi-Fi networking, today announced that Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi has selected Wi-Fi from Meru networks for high-performance connectivity to more than 90 percent of its retail and corporate space, as well as common areas in its three residential towers. Near-term plans also call for deployment of Ascom voice-over-Wi-Fi to support communications among more than 350 staff members across the development.
“The seamless handoff between access points with the Meru single-channel, virtual-cell deployment option was a major factor in our selection of a Wi-Fi solution,” said Mohamed Ghorab, ELV and controls engineer for Etihad Towers. “The other was the ability that the architecture gives us to add access points whenever and wherever they are needed, expanding coverage at will, without the need to conduct site surveys or channel reconfiguration. It simply and effectively meets our and our tenants’ very high expectations.”
Meru Wi-Fi is deployed in four of the five towers and four additional retail and administration podiums. These structures contain more than 45,000 square meters of leasable retail and commercial office space, common areas supporting 879 residential apartments and seven luxury penthouses, as well as 14 conference rooms, an 1,800 square meter ballroom and 38 high-end retail units (http://www.avenueatetihadtowers.ae/). They also house a ‘Waitrose’ supermarket, along with 3,000 underground parking spaces on four levels. Even with such expansive facilities, space in the towers is in short supply. The retail area is 100 percent occupied, the residential towers are at 99 percent occupancy and the commercial towers are 80 percent leased with detailed discussions underway on an additional 10 percent.
