Karachi, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rahman has while expressing regret over the fire in two factories in New Karachi Industrial Ares said that thanks be to Allah Almighty that all the people were safely evacuated from the factory. Immediate steps were taken to avoid loss of precious lives, ten fire tenders and bowsers took part in extinguishing the fire in the factories while a snorkel was kept on standby so that it could be used in any emergency.
Administrator Karachi supervised the extinguishing process himself and instructed the Chief Fire Officer to keep the fire brigade personnel present at site till the factory is completely extinguished and the cooling process is completed. He instructed him to ensure uninterrupted supply of water from the nearby hydrants.
The Chief Fire Officer informed the administrator Karachi about the details and said that an emergency was imposed in the fire brigade department and ordered more vehicles and staff to be ready. He said that there were difficulties in extinguishing the fire due to the narrow space, but the fire brigade personnel were engaged in controlling the fire using all their skills.
Personnel from the Urban Rescue and Research Department were also kept ready to be called upon whenever required. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman while talking to the media said that officials of North Karachi Trade Association have also been spoken to and have assured them that the fire brigade personnel are continuing all their efforts and as the cooling process completed, the causes of the fire will be determined.
Administrator Karachi said this should be ascertained what precautions should be taken to deal with such incidents in the future, so that precious lives and property can be saved. He said that the timely action of the fire brigade staff is commendable and the swift action of the fire brigade has saved other factories from damage and prevented the fire from spreading.
