Karachi, January 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has expressed acute displeasure over the slow pace of construction works of Malir Halt and Malir 15 flyovers. The work orders for these flyovers were issued two months ago, but the construction work was not started still. He said to Director General Engineering Niaz Soomro not to make any payment to contractor and also issue orders for change of project director and other staff in case of non compliance of orders.
Administrator Karachi on Saturday paid a visit to the site of Malir Halt and Malir 15 Flyover to review the pace of development work where he was given a briefing with the help of layout plans and charts, however he dismissed all these details and asked them to show the practical work on which the Director General and Project Director informed him about the hurdles in the construction works. Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui warned them strictly and said the construction works must be carried out round the clock basis.
He also said action will be taken against those responsible for slow pace of work on development projects. “Engineers and staff will be changed and the contract will be stand cancelled if they did not comply with the orders”, He warned.
He also directed them to submit the daily work report to him and said he will personally monitor progress of work on these sites. He further said these two flyovers holds much importance for the city as citizens were facing trouble due to traffic jam on these locations. The completion of these flyovers will not only provide convenience to people but would also give ease to traffic using the National Highway.
