Srinagar, February 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Tabassum Guru, wife of Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru has said that although a year has passed that her husband was hanged in Tihar Jail but their son still believes that his father may be alive. Tabassum Guru in a media interview in Srinagar said that New Delhi’s refusal to return mortal remains of her spouse was the reason for her son, Ghalib’s false hope. “He still thinks that Afzal may be alive and kept hidden in some jail,” she added.
On the martyrdom anniversary of her husband, Tabassum vowed to fight. “I will fight for his remains till I am alive,” she said.
Tabassum’s son, Ghalib is now in Class IX. He was two years old when Afzal Guru was arrested in New Delhi. He saw his father for the last time in August 2012.
Terming Guru’s hanging a political stunt by Congress, Tabassum said that her husband was sacrificed for the electoral gains by the party.
She said that her husband was hanged flouting all the laws. “He was number 21 on the death row but was hanged before others,” she deplored.
