AI team meets families of martyred Matoo, Wamiq Farooq

Srinagar, September 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the visiting team of Amnesty International (AI) met with families of teenagers, Tufail Matoo and Wamiq Farooq, who were martyred in Srinagar by Indian police during the 2010 mass uprising.

The visiting AI team comprising, Divya Iyer and Christine Mehta called on the family of Tufail Matoo at his Saida Kadal residence here.

Muhammad Ashraf Matoo, father of Tufail Matoo, said that he apprised the team about the present status of the case in the High Court of the occupied territory. He said that the family of Wamiq Farooq also informed the team about the status of the case.

Tufail Matoo, a 12th class student, was killed on June 11, 2010, after a police teargas shell hit him near Gandhi Memorial College when he was returning home from tuition. Wamiq Farooq, a 7th class student, was also hit by a tear smoke shell at Ghani Memorial Stadium in 2010.
