Islamabad, July 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, staged a sit-in outside the United Nations’ office in Islamabad to mark the Martyrs Day, today.
Addressing on the occasion, the speakers paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13 who laid their lives for freedom. They said that the July 13 incident was a milestone in the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.
They expressed their resolve to continue the freedom struggle till its logical end, against all odds. They condemned the human rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops in the occupied territory. The participants maintained that India could not suppress Kashmiris’ freedom struggle through use of brute force. They maintained that the martyrs of 1931 had inspired people of occupied territory to fight for their freedom and live with their heads up.
The speakers urged India to give up its traditional intransigence and adopt a realistic approach towards the resolution of Kashmir dispute. They also underlined the need for involving Kashmiris in the dialogue process between Pakistan and India to find an amicable solution to the dispute. At the end, the speakers presented a memorandum to the UN office.
Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, AJK minister Chaudhry Yasin, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Manzoorul Haq Butt, Altaf Ahmad Butt, Altaf Hussain Wani, Abdul Hameed Lone, Ishtiaq Hameed, Abdul Majeed Mir, Daud Khan, Shaukat Hussain Butt, Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Saleem Haroon, Nabeela Irshad and Noorul Bari were also among those who participated in the sit-in.
