Anti Narcotics Force seizes 4.3 ton drugs worth Rs 7.06 billion, held 14 persons and impounded 5 vehicles in 8 operations

Islamabad, January 18, 2016 (PPI-OT): ANF in its drive against drug trafficking carried out 8 operations at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Okara, Hyderabad and Qilla Abdullah, which led to seizure of 4.33 Tons of drugs comprising 3.075 Ton Opium, 1.25 Ton Charas and 8 Kg Heroin. ANF also held 14 offenders involved in drug trafficking and impounded 5 vehicles during the operations. The value of seized drug is Rs 7.06 Billion (7 Arab 6 Crore) in International Market. Most of the seized drugs were intended to be smuggled abroad.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi while carrying out intelligence based operation near Bahria Town, GT Road, Rawalpindi, intercepted 4 vehicles including 2 Double Cabin and 2 Toyota Corolla Cars. During search of the vehicles, 1250 Kg Charas was recovered from secret cavities of the vehicles. During the operation, ANF also arrested a drug smuggling gang comprising 8 members. As per preliminary reports, drug was being transported to Karachi.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team detained a foreign bound passenger named Bilal Ahmed resident of Charsada at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of ingested Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having gulped Heroin filled capsules. He intended to proceed for Abu Dhabi by PIA Flight No PK-261.

Yet, another operation at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, conducted by ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team in collaboration with ASF, led to seizure of 7 Kg Heroin along with arrest of Jeddah bound passenger named Mubashir Hussain resident of Khushab. Heroin was tactfully concealed in his passenger bag. He was to take off for Jeddah by Oman Air Flight WY-348.

ANF Lahore Airport Team apprehended an individual namely Muhammad Zahoor, resident of Khushab, at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 1 Kg Heroin concealed in his trolley bag. He was attempting to fly for Jeddah.

In other operation, ANF Lahore seized a Toyota Corolla Car near Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore, and recovered 19 Kg Opium from secret cavities of the car. An occupant of the car named Rehmat Ullah resident of Bajuar Agency was also held during the operation. In another operation, ANF Lahore arrested a local drug supplier namely Samundar Khan resident of Okara along with recovery of 2.2 Kg Charas from his personal possession. He was arrested near Lahore-Multan Bypass, Okara City.

ANF Karachi detained a local drug supplier namely Zeeshan during a raid conducted near PSO Petrol Pump, Pathan Colony, Hyderabad City, which resulted in recovery of 3 Kg Charas from his personal possession. ANF Quetta while carrying out a successful intelligence led operation, raided a desolate site at Lilli Jungle Peer Ali Zai, Tehsil and District Qilla Abdullah which resulted in seizure of huge cache of Opium weighing 3056 Kg. Drug was stuffed in plastic sacks, and was concealed far away from the populated area.

The site was being guarded by the armed persons, who managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness after exchange of fire with ANF Raiding Party. As per initial information, the drug consignment was kept for handing over to another narcotics gang for onward smuggling to some foreign destination. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
