Anti Narcotics Task Force recovers 6.750 kgs of heroin at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad; two persons arrested

Rawalpindi, June 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Anti Narcotics Force in a successful operation recovered 6.750 Kgs of heroin at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad. According to details, Anti Narcotics Force, received an information that some international drug smugglers /traffickers will try to smuggle Heroin to United Kingdom through Cargo, from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad.

On receipt of information, Anti Narcotics Force intercepted a consignment booked for Manchester, United Kingdom by Paradise Booking Company, Rawalpindi. Consignment comprising of 74 cartons containing house hold items including ladies Garments and crockery. On thorough search of consignment, 6.750 Kgs of fine quality Heroin was recovered. The heroin was tactfully concealed in the Ladies Garments.

Two accused including owner of the company namely Shaukat Mehmood s/o Muhammad Sharif and Tariq Hussain s/o Naik Muhammad have been arrested at the spot. FIR under Control of Narcotics Substances Act-1997 has been registered. Further investigations are in progress and efforts are in hand to arrest other culprits. Value of the recovered heroin in international market is in Billions.

In another operation ANF recovered 27.50 Mund Chars from Lyari, Karachi. According to details, ANF received an information that some international Drug Smugglers have brought huge quantity of Drugs from Afghanistan and dumped in the area of Lyari.

They will try to smuggle it abroad at some appropriate time. On confirmation of the information, ANF in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers conducted a raid and recovered 27.50 Mund Chars from a Godown. Case has been registered against unknown persons.
