Srinagar, May 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has strongly condemned the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), for 38th time on its illegally detained Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and 2nd time on its leader, Muhammad Yousuf Mir.
A JKML spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the administration has made its mind to keep Masarrat Aalam Butt behind the bars and it is using PSA as a tool, otherwise courts have repeatedly quashed his detention orders under the PSA. “Masarrat Aalam is lodged in Amphala Jail in Jammu and was about to get released after his 37th PSA was quashed last week. But instead of releasing him, he was kept at some unknown location and has been slapped 38th PSA by Baramulla district judge in connection with some fabricated charges,” he said, terming the action as the demonstration of worst political vendetta.
The spokesman while denouncing the slapping of PSA for the second time on JKML Vice Chairman, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, said, “First PSA of M Yousuf Mir was quashed by court a month before. He was languishing in police station Shopian and has now been shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.”
The JKML spokesman urged the UN Human Rights Council, International Committee of Red Cross, Amnesty International and other world human rights organisations to take cognizance of the illegal detention of Masarrat Aalam Butt and play their role in his early release.
