Islamabad Stock Exchange and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan organise seminar on investor education
Islamabad, September 06, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) held a seminar on investor education and awareness program today at International Islamic University (IIU), Islamabad in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Mr. Salman Hayat, Management Executive of SECP briefed the participants about the investor education program initiated collectively by stock exchanges and SECP. Mr. Waris Niazi, Dy. GM of ISE gave a detailed presentation on investments, structure of financial system, role of stock exchanges, CDC and NCCPL and over all procedures of investments.
He detailed the financial products available in the market for existing as well as potential investors. During the question and answer session, the MD ISE, Mian Ayyaz Afzal apprised the investors that in order to keep their savings in their own hand, it was necessary that the investors open their own CDC accounts with the CDC. He spoke on investor’s protection and necessity of investors to be aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Dr. Bashir Khan, Dean Faculity of Management sciences, appreciated the efforts of ISE and SECP for educating the Investors in general and students in specific. He also highlighted the role of Capital markets in the economy and their efforts to increase the confidence of the investors in the local markets.
