Jeddah Saudi Arabia's cabinet said the sabotage operations against two East-West oil pipeline pumping stations on Tuesday targeted not only the Kingdom but the security of global oil supplies and the world economy.

Media Minister Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah said the cabinet emphasized that these acts of terrorism and sabotage against vital installations, including two oil pumping stations on the East-West pipeline which transports Saudi oil from the Eastern Province to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, in addition to the recent attack on commercial vessels in the Arabian Gulf, not only target the Kingdom but also the security of world oil supplies and the global economy.

He explained that the cabinet stressed, during its session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Tuesday, the importance of confronting all terrorist entities that carry out such subversive acts, including Iran-backed Houthi militias.

Al-Shabanah said the cabinet reiterated Saudi Arabia's condemnation of the sabotage acts that targeted civilian commercial vessels last Sunday near the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates in the Gulf of Oman. He underlined that the terrorist attack which also targeted two Saudi oil tankers while on their way to cross the Arabian Gulf constitutes a flagrant threat to the security and safety of the maritime navigation traffic, and negatively affecting the regional and international peace and security.

The minister also affirmed the shared responsibility of the international community to preserve the safety of maritime navigation and security of oil tankers in anticipation of any effects on energy markets, and the danger of that on the world economy.

The cabinet also commended the efforts of the security authorities who wiped out a newly formed eight-member terror cell in a recent preemptive security operation in Qatif in the Eastern Province.
