Awami National Party Senators and Member of National Assembly’s call on Prime Minister Gilani

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has stated that he is managing the Government affairs in an institutionalized manner to streamline the decision making and infuse good governance in the country. He hoped that good traditions would be established in other institutions to be followed in the service of the nation.

The Prime Minister observed while talking to an ANP delegation which called on him at the Prime Minister’s House this afternoon that whimsical approach of the past regimes has badly affected the governance in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said the present Government has made serious efforts to streamline the governance through constitutional and administrative reforms like 18th and 19th Constitutional Amendment and NFC Award. He maintained that some of its positive results are now visible yet it will take some time when the people will enjoy its full benefits.

The Prime Minister said that the Government is committed to implement 18th Constitutional Amendment and the Devolution Plan. He assured the ANP delegation that the Government would make every effort to resolve problems of the coalition partners. During the meeting, the Prime Minister phoned the Chief Minister Sindh and asked him to form a core committee of PPP and ANP MPAs to resolve day to day local issues of the coalition partner. He also discussed the issue of life threat to a journalist belonging to Daily Ummat and asked the Chief Minister to provide him adequate security. The Prime Minister also spoke to the Chairman Senate regarding inclusion of an ANP representative in the Senate Committee on Finance.

Reposing their confidence and trust in the leadership of the Prime Minister, the ANP delegation thanked him for his keen interest in resolving the problems and ensuring uplift of backward and far-flung regions of the country. They also discussed law and order situation in Karachi. Construction of Kurram Tangi Dam, Chashma uplift Canal project and Munda Dam were also discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan, MNA Ms. Bushra Gohar, MNA Ms. Jamila Gilani and senior officers of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
