Business community while strongly supporting safe kite flying, says that it would boost economic activities and tourism industry

Lahore, April 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Business community while strongly supporting safe kite flying, has said that it would boost economic activities and tourism industry but government should ensure enforcement of rules and regulation and safety of the masses.

In a meeting on Thursday, President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran Khalid Pervez, General Secretary Hall Road Traders Association Baber Ali Khan, President All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) Muhammad Ajmal and Vice President All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) and founder of kite flying festive Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that ban was not a solution, kite flying was sport and it should be brought into rules and regulations.

They said that it was a wrong perception that kite flying was a Hindu festival as kite flying was innovated by the Chinese thousands years ago.

They said that Chief Minister Najam Sethi’s gesture to lift ban on kite flying in Punjab and said that it would go a long way in highlighting the soft image of the country.

They said that the decision would also help cut rate of unemployment in the province as thousands of people are directly or indirectly attached with kite making industry.

They said that to ensure safe kite flying, the Chief Minister Punjab should order to establish special kite flying zones out of the city so that people could take part in this festivity whole of the year. It would not only strengthen the cottage industry would help in earning much-needed foreign exchange through tourism industry as prior to ban, a large number of foreigners were used to visit Pakistan to take part in the kite flying festival.
