Trading Corporation of Pakistan purchased 12,400 bales of cotton while 1,21,45,705 cotton bales were sourced to country’s ginners by December 1: Report

Multan, December 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) fortnightly report shows that Trading Corporation of Pakistan has purchased only 12,400 bales of cotton while 1,21,45,705 cotton bales were sourced to the country’s ginners by December 1st ,2014. Which shows an increase of 9.96 percent than last year when ginneries received 95,18,130 bales.

PCGA Chairman Hafeez Anwar briefed journalists on Wednesday about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton. He said that 93,75,690 cotton bales were sold to the textile units, TCP procured 12,400 and exporters bought 3,13,830 bales.

Thus, overall 97,00,920 bales were traded so far. He said that PCGA was following the production target of Pakistan Central Cotton Committee .Hafeez Anwar said that total 1139 (877 in Punjab+ 262 in Sindh)out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in two provinces.

The chairman of PCGA said that Punjab contributed 84,98,129 bales which 12.32 percent more than last year when Punjab contributed 76,82,905 bales , Sindh contributed 36,47,576 bales which 4.83 percent more than last year when it contributed 34,79,480 bales and Baluchistan 62,191 bales. After the total trading of 97,00,920 bales, there are 24,44,785 bales available with ginners as unsold stock.

He was pessimistic about stability of prices of cotton in the market. District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 3,86,628 5.99 percent short than last year, Lodhran 2,58,142 bales 1.83 % decrease, Khanewal 8,24,109 showing an increase of 7.41 %, Muzaffargarh 4,47,597 bales 25.47 % increase, Dera Ghazi Khan4,23,852 bales showed an increase of 21.44 %, Rajanpur5,20,553 bales showing an increase of 40.76 %.

Layyah3,30,903 bales 48.30 % more than last year,Vehari 6,91,985 bales showing a decrease of 0.27%, Sahiwal 5,05,604 bales increased by 19.20 %,Pakpattan 1,64,950 showing 15.01 % more than preceding year, Okara 49,700 showing an increase of 27.01%, Kasur 18,750 bales 11.14% less than last year, Toba Tek Singh,2,51.836 bales (an increase of 41.99 % ) ,Faisalabad 80,321 (increase 50.84 %), Jhang 64,794 (36.64 % short), Mianwali 2,30,128 bales (38.22% increase), Bhakkar 1,35,896 showing an increase of 11.99 %, Sargodha 15,330 bales (4364% Short), Rahimyar Khan 10,20,679 bales an increase of 5.73%, Bahawalpur 9,97,258bales (an increase of 17.77 ), Bahawalnagar 9,17,000 bales showing an increase of 2.41%.

District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 2,48,996 showing decrease of 11.39 %. Mirpurkhas ,3,79,716 Sangarh 13,91,041 Nawabshah 2,73,728 Naushero Feroze 2, 3,936, Khairpur 2,13,473 Ghotki 1,32,442 bales, Sukkur, 3,18,855 , Jamshoro 1,35,500 bales, Badin 53,800 and Baluchistan 58,191 bales. Ginneries received 17,07,632 bales during the fortnight of November 16 to Dec 1st . Unsold stock is 24,44,785 which is more than last year when it reached to 19,75,285 bales.
