Peshawar, March 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Regional Institute of Policy Research and training Peshawar in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade has arranged a regional seminar on “trade, commerce and improved relations between Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province” at Peshawar on Wednesday.
Besides others, Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, Senator Mohsin Aziz, Provincial Minister Muhammad Atif, Afghan Ambassador Janaan Musazai, Chairman Regional Institute for Policy Research Khalid Aziz and Afghan Consul General attended the seminar.
The purpose of seminar was to visualize the opportunities available as perceived by the people of the region, who were involved in various capacities, including trade, transport, commerce and trade in fruits, vegetables, livestock and understanding the difficulties of Afghans receiving medical treatment in Peshawar hospitals, bottlenecks in transit trade, preventing safe-havens and ensuring better border control, but easing visa regime, grievances addressal refugees concerns etc.
Provincial Minister Muhammad Atif while addressing the seminar said the root cause of issues regarding relationship between two brethren countries was to left our issues in others hand. He made it clear that being a nation we must have to decide that we would not be used more by the hands of others and we would solve our problems ourselves.
On this occasion, Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, Senator Mohsin Aziz also highlighted the importance of economic cooperation and investment between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan and said relationship between them were being strengthening and we were in process in resolving issues regarding investment and trade. He said they will ensure to use the energy of people of both the regions effectively that will be built on crowd-sourcing for its participatory inputs, based on efforts by volunteers, particularly the youth of KP and Afghanistan.
Ambassador of Afghanistan Janaan Musazai while highlighting the road map of future cooperation said, confidence between both the countries has been restored and people have attached great expectations with these relations. The trade and economic relations between Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were need of the hour, however, both the Islamic countries were facing same problems and difficulties in this regard which can easily be redressed with the joint and sincere efforts.
Moreover, he stated that both the governments were establishing economic relations on war footing basis. The seminar also suggested that medical visa should be provided to Afghan patients and a medical desk should also be established at Torkham border to meet the problems faced by the Afghan’s patients.
