Karachi, May 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): A national level workshop is being organized here in Islamabad on Tuesday (today) to invite comments from the concerned stakeholders on the possible environmental and social Impacts of the 780 kilometres-long Pakistan section of TAPI gas pipeline project. Environmental Management Consultants is organizing the workshop as being the local agency engaged to conduct works related to the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) study for TAPI pipeline project (Pakistan section).
Similar workshops will also be held at the provincial, district, and community levels to invite comments from the concerned stakeholders on the possible environmental and social impacts of the gas pipeline project. The workshop is being organized in fulfilment of the stakeholder engagement requirements of the ESIA study in the country.
The relevant senior government officials, members of the civil society, environmentalists, social activists, and energy sector experts are likely to attend the workshop in large number. Miss Romina Khurshid Alam, parliamentary secretary for Federal Ministry of Climate Change will be one of the important speakers of the workshop who on the occasion is likely to put forth viewpoint of the government on the possible social and environmental impacts of the transnational gas pipeline project passing through Pakistan. The workshop is being organized at Hotel Marriott in Islamabad and will begin at 9:30 am.
