Lahore, July 22, 2019 (PPI-OT): Pakistan made a commitment at the World Health Assembly of 2016 to eliminate Viral Hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. Being socially responsible and realizing the threat hepatitis poses to the quality of life of our citizens, Descon Oxychem Limited (DOL partnered with some of the leading companies of Pakistan (including Ferozsons Laboratories Limited, Abbott Pakistan, Atlas Honda, Packages Limited, Pepsico Pakistan, Nestle Pakistan) to form Corporate Coalition For Viral Hepatitis Elimination in Pakistan (CCVHEP) on Wednesday July 17, 2019. The CCVHEP Program launch was attended by Dr Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, and senior officials from the Ministry of National Health Services.
Viral Hepatitis affects millions of people across the globe and poses a serious threat to human health. Current statistics reflect that it affects more than 12 million people in Pakistan. This first of its kind coalition aims to improve awareness, screening, and linkage-to-care for viral hepatitis and ensure a work environment that is free from any discrimination for those with the disease. DOL has stepped forward to fully support this cause and commits to do its part in paving way to a healthier Pakistan.
