Karachi, December 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): The office bearers of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Managing Committee members have pledged to ‘go the extra mile’ to make the 11th sequel of My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony 2014 exhibition successful by effectively utilizing maximum resources. The Exhibition is scheduled to be held from June 20 to June 22, 2014 at Karachi Expo Center.
During the first meeting of Special Committee of My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony, the Managing Committee members gave valuable inputs and suggestions to further improve the facilities at My Karachi Exhibition.
The meeting was presided over by President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki whereas Senior Vice President KCCI, Muffasar A. Malik, Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees, Chairman Special Committee, My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony, Ismail Muhammad Suriya, Chairman of Fairs, Exhibitions and Trade Delegations, Naveed Farooki, Secretary General KCCI, S.M.H. Rizvi and other Managing Committee members were also present at the meeting.
President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, while reviewing the plan of action for My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony 2014, said that every suggestion and innovative idea by Managing Committee members for further improving KCCI’s exhibition will be prioritized. “All available resources are being utilized to maintain the tradition of making this exhibition yet another resounding success”, he added.
Senior Vice President KCCI, Muffasar Malik, while responding to a suggestion regarding use of IT and social media to promote My Karachi Exhibition, said that it has already been decided and KCCI’s IT Department will utilize all resources to promote this exhibition through social media whereas KCCI’s website will also be carrying updated details of the exhibition.
“It is for the very first time that all promotional campaign will be completely digitalized for My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony 2014, keeping in view the overall strength and impact of social media on lives of the public, particularly our youth”, he said, adding that KCCI is also considering to undertake massive SMS marketing campaign for this exhibition.
Commenting on a suggestion to approach Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for additional subsidies, Muffasar A. Malik said that TDAP has been actively supporting this event but any further request for additional subsidies was not feasible under the present circumstances as TDAP is facing liquidity crunch.
He added that KCCI has yet to receive subsidies approved by TDAP for previous exhibitions. “Instead of seeking additional subsidies, we should be strong enough to subsidize the exhibitions’ expenses by effectively using our own resources”, he added.
Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees said that Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is planning to approach multinational companies in Pakistan and abroad on large scale so that they could densely participate in this event. It will not only help in enhancing trade volumes with various countries but will also promote the soft image of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Special Committee of My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony, Ismail Muhammad Suriya assured that the valuable suggestions by Managing Committee members for further improving My Karachi exhibition will certainly be considered and they will be kept informed about the progress of the exhibition’s arrangements and various strategies being pursued to attract maximum visitors.
To ensure maximum participation by foreign companies from various countries, it was recommended that various international chambers of commerce, consulate and embassies should be timely approached and informed about details of this event.
It was further suggested that an Exhibitors/ Exporters’ Directory must also be compiled for the exhibition which should carry details of the exhibitors/ exporters including the nature of their businesses and contact details. This Directory can also help in generating additional income for KCCI if various exhibitors, exporters and companies are approached for advertisement support to this Directory.
It was further advised that the food court must also be made more vibrant in which maximum participation should be ensured while high-quality food stuff must also be available at affordable prices in order to attract maximum number of visitors.
One of the Managing Committee member suggested to organize entertainment shows alongside the exhibition with a view to add more colors and make it more attractive by inviting various prominent artists and celebrities.
It was further discussed that Heads of various trade associations may also invited to KCCI for a meeting so that KCCI could highlight the significance of this event and request them and their affiliated firms/ industries to participate in this mega exhibition.
The meeting ended with high hopes of making KCCI My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony exhibition 2014 yet another booming event which is likely to offer lucrative opportunities to local and foreign exhibitors.
