Businessmen inform Ebad about worsening law and order situation in Karachi

Karachi, October 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): In a press hand out, Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman Businessmen Group and former President KCCI, Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki, Anjum Nisar, Vice Chairmen Businessmen Group and former Presidents KCCI and Haroon Agar President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry have clarified that meeting of Leadership and President/ Office Bearers of Karachi Chamber along with representatives of business community of Karachi with Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan held at Governor House yesterday was not a negotiating meeting on the decisions of protest by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The marathon meeting which continued for four hours was a meeting which the Governor Sindh usually calls to discuss the matters and problems confronting to the business and industrial community of Karachi such as gas, electric water etc. and this time it was to find the root cause of law and order situation in Karachi and try to resolve it.

They informed the Governor Sindh about the worseness of prevailing law and order situation in Karachi whereby extortion (bhatta), kidnapping for ransom, target killing was at peak and the Government/ State including the law enforcing agencies have not been able to control unbridled waves of violence and crimes.

They appreciated the Governor’s indulgence to try and help out the business and industrial community to resolve the issues of law and order and after listening to each and every one present, the Governor Sindh gave instructions to IG Police and Additional IG Police to take necessary security measures particularly in the old city areas and seven industrial zones.

They reiterated that the meeting with Governor Sindh was not a negotiating meeting and Karachi Chamber’s announcement with regards to protests have not changed.
