Pakistan Travel Agent Association has announced a boycott of UAE-based Etihad Airways due to the ongoing tensions over Kashmir.

The association's chairman Khawaja Ayub Naseem said that the airline's boycott is to protest against UAE giving 'Killer Modi' its highest civilian award.

He said that a formal announcement would be made in a press conference today, where he will explain the association's plan for the future.

We will also brief the Dubai-bound visitors of UAE's anti-Kashmir move and will try to change their mind.

It should be mentioned here that the UAE government is facing severe criticism for disregarding the sentiments of the Kashmiris. People are calling for a UAE tourism boycott for giving a civilian award to the Indian prime minister at a time when Kashmir is in shambles.

Makkah The United Arab Emirates has condemned terrorist acts on commercial ships in its regional waters and drone attacks on two oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia, as a ''flagrant violation of international law''.

This came in the UAE speech delivered by Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, at the 14th Summist of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hosted by Saudi Arabia in Makkah on Friday.

He affirmed that the UAE deemed these acts, aimed at destabilizing regional security and stability, as a threat to the security of international navigation, world energy supplies and to the global economy.

''We confirm the need for international cooperation to prevent the recurrence of such acts of terrorism and bring the perpetrators to justice,'' Sheikh Saud said.

With regard to the three UAE islands, occupied by Iran, the UAE called on Tehran to respond positively to the UAE's initiatives for a peaceful settlement, either through direct bilateral negotiations or taking the case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

''Iran needs to review its policies so it can build friendly relations with its neighbors, based on non-interference in internal affairs of other countries,'' Sheikh Saud added.

''The UAE also reiterates its support for the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state with Al-Quds as its capital in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative,'' he said.

''As Islam advocates moderation, denounces extremism and terrorism, and calls for hard work in serving countries, the UAE believes the spread of fanatic and terrorist ideology in the world at the hands of outlawed groups using religion as a disguise, requires strong, efficient national and international legal tools to counter this challenge and dry up its sources," Sheikh Saud stated.

He told delegates of the OIC member states that radical thought had inflicted severe damage to the Islamic world, especially its cultural and civilizational legacy, and disrupted much-needed development for its people.

The UAE official called for support to the G5 Sahel Joint Force member states (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger) to enable them to build their defenses and security capabilities to fight terrorism and ensure development and prosperity for their people.
